As far as being spread out over multiple publishes, that was the idea for the smuggler revamp, not the slicing revamp--which, excluding tweaks to the drop rates, looks to be done for now. I do hope we'll see some other changes, such as ship slicing and making the slicing components contraband, but those are just hopes for things that'd be cool, not anything I have any reason to believe we'll be seeing any time soon.
I thought that ship slicing had pretty much gotten an unambiguous negative response every time it was mentioned.
I'm more interested in the other missing concept doc personally. You know... the one with missions, no more spice crafting, and BHs. Oh, since I mentioned it, prepare for the redundant "We wanna be hunted by players" high-jack.

Ship slicing has received several unambiguous noes, yes. The current components are seen as balanced and it's clear that, at the time JTL came out, they didn't have a way to balance slicing on weapons and armor, let alone ship stuff.
However, the slicing document on the In Concept forum specifically mentioned being able to slice POBs--ships that are undeniably underpowered to the point of near-uselessness. Therefore, if it was decided to not implement POB slicing, it's not for reasons of balance, but simply because they didn't have the time or the system to do it right.
That's why it was on the In Concept forum and not In Development. But the general denial for ship slicing--it would be unbalanced--does not apply to POBs. Not unless you we end up being able to slice their shields for 5000% more HP, anyway.
Ohhhhh...slicing over several patches! And silly me thought that the whole revamp was over several patches meaning after the slicing part we'd see SMUGGLING content.
I feel stupid, I'm going to go fiddle with my glowstick...
Where is that In Concept Document anyway?
Anyone have a Cache of it so we can at-least re-post it here?
AM I blind and not seeing it somewhere?
POB Slicing Concept:
As to POB slices. I have noticed that POB Parts are starting to show up since ROTW. Ship Parts that are for POBs only, yet dont seem much more powerful than standard Starfighter parts. Prehaps the fact that we now have POB only parts means it's a good time to bring this idea back to the Devs
Let us slice Ship Parts, but only POB Ship Parts!
Another concept for Ship Parts Slicing:
Currently RE Level = the number of parts of that level you need in order to RE something. This means that with a RE 8 Engine (Example) You would need 7 more RE8 ENgines so you could RE it. Even if you managed to get the desired stats from 5 RE8 Engines, you still need 3 more "fillers"
Now What IF, A Master smuggler could "Slice" That RE 8 Engine and make it RE8/Slice5 Meaning you would only need5 Total RE 8 engines to finish your RE, No need to hunt down extra "filler" Engines! This would allow Ship Component Slicing, while not unbalancing the existing parts. In fact, it has no effect on the Ship Parts other than you can RE Them sooner or Faster than before.
You mean the POB ships should be good for something other than decorating and providing a low-level grind platform?? That's madness!!!

The new targetting system is just fit to work well with a pad on your TV... oh and with a playstation between them !
