Thread: Jedi Strength-- Are we supposed to be that tough?

I was reading posts and a thought came to me... Are we really supposed to be that tough...? In the whole scheme of things, look at what it took to kill young jed i ( I use the films as my support). There are only a few who survive and many who don't even know that they are jedi or force sensitive after the third movie (like or not). So, we all want to be jedi or force sensitive, that's fine. But, we can't all be all powerful jedi. There aren't that many that are all powerful, even in the books. Even with the new jedi in the books (that don't even matter in the time period, but do after some thought with the numbers and all), there aren't that many that can take on the yuzaan vong (sorry about spelling). Think about how many we see killed in the first three movies and how easily they are killed too. Q'ui Gon is killed by a wuss of a sith, Several are killed in the stadium in the second movie and Obi Wan almost gets killed by a bounty hunter... Then, the third movie has several being killed and only a few remaining... Anakin (Vader), Palpatine, Obi Wan, Luke and Leia (they don't even know it)-- Leia never does except in books where she still isn't overly experienced. So, we complain and complain to be tough and tough and tough, but jedi are killed over and over in the films, and quite easily.

What we really need is something or some nearly impossitble content that could be completed in several different ways and after a certain amount of TIME in the game rather than everyone goes and does it... This would then make for a few awesome Yodaesque jedi within the game-- But, how tough is he by RoJ?

Seems to me that jedi really aren't that tough... They are the cops of our game; of the galaxy in the films and cops are unfortunately and sadly killed on a daily basis... Just a parallel that came to mind...

Are these valid thoughts and does anyone think this is a possible explanantion to nerfing or whatever you'd like to call it to the jedi (i won't call it a profession-- just don't like it)

I know that others complain and complain and that's why nerfs come but this thought process is at least part of some rationale thought process on the jedi and how tough or not that they are or are not...

Thanks for responses.

You don't need the excuse the devs' nerfing--it comes naturally to those [the devs]who lack creativity and understanding.

What we really need is something or some nearly impossitble content DWB..?? what a joke our "nearly impossible" content is has become,it was only a matter of time before ppl found how to do it... now we have daily regular "DWB runs" .ha..that could be completed in several different ways and after a certain amount of TIME in the game rather than everyone goes and does it... and how many people had to be there to kill the jedi....every jediin the movies was killed by a gank squad of dozens...then it makes sense that we dont have problems one on one....and thats the sad part, nobody i have seen post even hinted that we want to be able to kill 30 players at once. the majority just want to feel secure in a one on one bh attack.

It was originally stated that jedi would be 1.5x as strong as a regular profession.

i completely agree that it should take many to kill one...

i'm just using the movies as help... i meant by a nearly impossible place to make yourself nearly impossible to defeat like ben or yoda... or palpy or vader... only 4.. .out of how many...

maul wasn't a wuss??? didn't obi wan kill him as a padawan...? i think he was...

i love star wars... i just want to get intelligent discussion going on this... i know it took many to kill one... as we saw... i just wonder if all of us expecting to be superheroes are being realistic...

continue thinking please

What you need to understand is that movies and game like this are about the fantastic, the superhuman, the mystical.

How many movies have you seen that were "a day in the life of Fred, who make $4 an hour, can't find a woman, drinks too much beer, and sists at home in a t-shirt in the evenings" How many games have "ordinary commoner" classes, where the only extraordianry power you have is th ability to fart on command, and smoke three packs a day?

No, these movies and games are supposed to give us the feel of being extraordinary. Yeah Jedi are supposed to be a one man squadron, and are supposed to be the protectors of the common folk. What is the point in playing a Jedi if you can't take out 30 normal combat profs at a time. Most BH's used technology in place of the force as an equalizer, and therefore were much stronger and harder to kill than your average gunslinger. Think of the immense personal power one person (Vader) must have to controll an entire empire.

I reckon that Jedi ought to be pretty darn powerful, and that BH's ought to come a close second, and two of them should be able to handle a padawan, but maybe not a knight, maybe. Now your average gunsliger should not stand a chance agains a Jedi, or a sufficiently talented BH. Sumgglers should be able to get by on their cunning, and stealth. As for most other combat professions, they should be able to gang up and become a force to be reckoned with.

If a Jedi isn't powerful, he might as well get some nachos, and a six pack and sit at home watching baywatch and getting lazy, because he is just another Fred that can use the force to turn onthe microwave.

i agree!!! i have loved star wars since i was 7.. (now 30)...

that's why; i agree... my only question posed to the forum is... were all the jedi so tough...? are we being realistic with this fantasy (nice paradox) to expect all to be vader? eventually, we should be able to be this tough... we need more content to get this tough... i dont' know... i agree with the disagreements... i really wanted to get some thinking going on how to achieve vader, ben, yoda, palpatine stature in the game...

sorry if it's too thoughtful english teacher with time

I LOVE THE FANTASTIC

i didnt read all of your post but i agree...

not all jediare aluke skywalker or an obi-wan

or not all dark jedi are a darth vader or a darth maul

but the jedi ablities in the game are out of whack so we should be stronger in than other normal prof.

so once all the bugs are fixed (whichis highly doubtful) i think it will all come down to skill tapes and experiance..

SOE wont let me hotlink a really cool sig......Boooo

I actually agree with some points from the poster. Everyone who gets Jedi in this game expect to be completely uber the second they get their LS, then they find out they still suck when they have afinished temp. But let me ask you this- How many Mpowers Jedi have problems with BH's? You'll find almost none do. Point is, ppl who are Jedi now a days either suck and cry about it or they suck and try to better themselves. For those who cry about it they just end up leaving the game or switching professions, and the circle of life continues.

Btw the Death Watch Bunker isnt a joke, its almost too easy if you know what your doing.

So you still believe that Jedi will get some love one of these days eh? Ive been around since I needed composite armor for my jedi. With every patch its been a downhill for jedi. The diferrence between me and you (all post-publish 9 jedi) is that I got the chance to play jedi when it was really amazingly powerfull. There was a time when being jedi was special. I experienced it. Now, I totally understand you all. You got jedi and want it to be special and realise its cannon fodder to be jedi. Well althea Im on your side (trying to slow down the nerfs) I have accepted to play the game in the condition it is, accepting the fact that jedi will get worse. Jedi will never be strong again (it is to some that know how to play really good, but you know what I mean) and honestly I dont want jedi to be strong or stronger cause then wahts the point. Everyone is a jedi and that will mean that everyone will be strong and it will force even more those who arent jedi to become jedi. Jedi will be rare again when an Entertainer will beat a full template jedi. Personally I dont wish that, but judging from what people say and what what ideas people push for, there will be a time where jedi will compare to entertainers lol. /force flurish 3 ftw
