I think that it can still be solo'ed, but when I tried (MLS, Defender 4040) I was able to stay at 50% or better health the entire fight-UNTIL I ran out of action, mind AND force with only 30% of the Katarn's health remaining. I think that you'd need a saber that does more damage than mine (or attacks that bypass armor such as choke) to take it down fast enough. Mine is only 615 max damage...

I was doing fine until running out of everything, then couldn't heal, couldn't use aura, couldn't attack...

Unfortunatley the way this game is balanced, my Artisan/Dancer/ID soloed this in 2 seconds.
My Jedi Knight died after he ran out of everything and did no damage for 8 minutes...

I solo'd the Katarn without too much difficulty. My temp Mls/Mdef Hlr 3000 Enh 0002 - I just tried to keep him armor broken and KD'ed whenever I could. I was fully buffed, had lots of food (including ruby bliels for helping with healing), and used booster blue spice.

It took a while but I got him - I tried to treat him like Necrosis (except I haven't managed to solo Necrosis yet!). I think the main trick is to channel force near the start if you can, and don't max out on the power hits because they use your force up too quickly.

I did it about a month ago, so if it's changed since then, apologies...

I solo'd the kataarn. MLS/MDef/Healer 4/0/4/0. It was a tough battle and I almost ran out of mind several times. Would have been easer if those little creatures that surround him would not have jumped in. Armor Break, knockdown, bleedkeeps his regen in check while you bang away and heal constantly. Have plenty of stims ready and something for mind regen.

It seems that those who have soled had mdef in template. I am currently mls h4000 end4002 def 4340 do you think it can be done with this, if so how.

MLS/4440 def/4000 healer/3002 enh (at the time) and solo'd without to much trouble.
No incaps, no buffs just alot of food.

mls def4440 hel4100 enh0004 here. I killed the katarn without problems.

It's just like a giant krayt dragon, you need to fight fine. Mind can be a problem if you don't use a booster+ahrisa + brandy + pikatta. Eat synthsteak as much as you can and have a good saber, that's all.

i done it back when i had mdef, want really eating alot of food back then just spice and canape. i really enjoyed it, was one of the hardest things ive soloed.
