Thread: Force Wave, Weaken, Suppression All The Same?

Looking at my favorite character builder, http://home-tdknet.dyndns.org/swg/cb/, I have noticed something.

Force Supression, Force Wave and Force Weaken all have the same thing in common - a movement (0) modifier. The only real difference is the amount of time that you are rooted. Force Weaken has a 10 second duration, while Suppression and Wave have 20 seconds. Although Improved Force Weaken has the same 20 duration, too. Improved Suppression and Improved Wave, interestingly, have the same 20 second duration as Basic Suppression and Basic Wave does.

Even Avoid Incap has this movement (0) modifier, except that you aresnaring yourself and not others.

I always thought that Force Suppression was the root (can't move) and Force Wave was the snare (move slow), but is there any real practical difference?

Doesn't this also imply that a Master Powers character might be wasting skill points if he also gets Force Suppression or Force Wave? Wouldn't Force Weaken work in a pinch?

I was considering picking up 3xxx Enhancer to get Force Run 1, Suppression and Force Speed 2, but perhaps Suppression will just be a duplication of my Improved Force Weaken skill.

Thoughts?

Suppression = Root

Wave = Snare

Weaken = Snare.. which it shouldn't be because if I remember the blurb says it makes your enemy more vulnerable to attack. My guess (and the wish for all Powers users) is that it was meant to be an Armor Break equivalent but got screwed up somehow.

btw Avoid Incap snares you, not roots.

Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game
They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting

Yep, of course, edited my AI comment. Thanks.

And I think when they say Weaken makes you "more vulnerable to attack," the devs meant a snare. If you can't run away from your attacker, you are more vulnerable, lol.

But I wish Weaken was an armor break, too. Powers folks need it.
