Thread: Publish 24 makes perfect sense to me now.
Before squad leader there already existed an aplha class, well supposedly, and it is Jedi.
It should take a well communicated group of players including a few Jedi in the group to take down those tough mobs. Not some goof saying shot him in the balls, then kick him in the left eye.
To fight an ancient krayt should take a team of brave and strong people. Sure some are bound to be people of legend(Jedi) and sure some are bound to die from the encounter but the reward should be worth the team effort.
bah, im not even making sense here. whatever, dont listen to this.
In theory, you are correct. For the highest level MOB's it should take a dedicated team - with a MSL providing the coordination and buffs at the appropriate time for the team to take them down. That however is not the issue. Were that the only thing going on, you wouldn't see the outcry from melee profs (not just Jedi) over this.
The issue is someone grinding out MBH/MSL and buffing themselves (so solo-grouping has returned I see) to overpower a single player opponent in PVP. Or "renting" a SL to provide a buff allowing a 1-shot incap of a player target. The question for not just the Jedi community, but for the melee profs overall is : how do you combat this kind of power that can bebrought against you now?
See now for methat doesnt make sense at all.
Beef up everything so SL is needed and you take us back to PRE-CU where buffs (granted a different kind) were needed to participate in any worthwhile content. Excpet for back then all I had to do was pay the price at the door of the local Buff-bot or wait in a line.

I ground out Squad Leader this weekend with my Bounty Hunter (now he's a MBH/MSL/4000 CM). I'm not much for hunting jedi, but enjoy the nice NPC hunting. Anyway, it dawned on me exactly why the changes were made. Why krayts are god awefully hard now. Because there has to be a need for a Squad Leader now. There needs to be a reason to have a Squad Leader leading (or participating) in a group. The defense/strength buffs are amazing and would be needed for a group if they were attacking something like a Krayt (or whatever). I like the entire idea behind a Squad Leader now and how it's going to change the face of gaming.
It's alsogoing to change how PvP is played as well. I ground out my Squad Leader for three purposes. 1) Because I always grind out a new "revamped" profession just to see what the changes are like. 2) For the group buff/bonuses. Sounded fun. 3) Help my Jedi (seperate character) level out against BH+SLs that like to visit.
The draw back is that group play in this game does seem terribly difficult w/o a Squad Leader now. Grind/Spingroups seem to love me though.
Well, those are my thoughts, as unimportant as usual. Take from it what you want. They're just simply thoughts.PEACE

I wasn't "trolling" I was just talking about game dynamics. My main character is a jedi and I have an alt that I have a BH/SL on. I was just TALKING about the skills and how it's changing the game.

As for PvP they will make a big difference and two in a group will make it even more important. Right now they do seem a tad overpowered; however, in the overall scheme of things it's great to see this once dead profession now have some purpose behind it. In addition, it's great to see that the developers along with both SOE and LA that we need more group oriented content as some things just shouldn't ever be soloed. Also, by giving a purpose to another class this makes group building on an 8 player team a bit more important. One can run with a group of Jedi only though if a group of range players run with say a SL or two this would give them the upper hand in some prospective (not saying that it will be the "I win" of battles because of various factors such as the player themselves, lag, etc.) but still make it challenging to both.
Overall I tend to feel that this change along with some of the others coming down the tube into live servers will be for the better. Though many of the changes are in their early stages it does seem that SOE/LA are looking to enhance the game through several different avenues. Up front we already know that the FRS system (or from what we've read/heard) will be a 1 vs. 1 ordeal and that there has been a huge outcry from the community to remove Jedi from the GCW. With the current and future changes it seems that SOE/LA are gearing up to do just that by increasing the abilities of all non-Jedi professions and reworking the GCW while at the same time giving Jedi a system to which they'll compete against each other (as it should be) thus hopefully making the majority of players pleased along with improving the quality of the game. An active GCW where normal players reign supreme and a FRS system which enhances Jedi giving them a shadow war to fight in the midst of the GCW.
Veustuh - I see the point you're making and I too am glad that SL has a "purpose" now. However, one falacy that I see in your post is around the outcry of Jedi in the GCW. Now, this may very well just be my server but I for one do not see a lot of GCW activity going on around Lowca. I do see some, but most time I do, both sides have Jedi on the front lines so it sort of balances out.
I agree with you that when / IF they bring back the FRS and it provides an outlet for Jedi based activity, that it'll help "rebalance" the game from Jedi / non-Jedi profs. However, depending on how they roll it out - they need to make sure it's compelling otherwise the Jedi will just move back to the GCW again or regular PvE / PVP content.
