Thread: FS vs JEDI, why JEDI is now a starting class, not FS.

Ok, so one of the new 9 classes is FS. Didn't specifically say Jedi, right? But what is a FS gonna do for combat? Think something to death? With only one profession now, they have to give FS something...this is how it's gonna go, and yall can shoot me on Friday if I'm wrong...

Created character picks FS as their "profession" and begins the Jedi quests with a trainer. Trainer gives said FS a starting saber and grants him the title of Padawan. Convo can go like this:

"This is great news <your name here>! Your midichlorian count is quite high (or the force is strong in you, etc.)! I must say tht this is very exciting! We should begin your Jedi training immediately!"

You then begin doing Jedi like quests with your new saber, probably with basic starting stats at lvl 1. Missions could be like this:

1.) Diplomatic mission to the Black Sun organization to resume talks in such and such

2.) Rescue a FS npc from bandits
3.) Escort a messenger to the Rebel base with plans of an imminent Imperial attack (or vice versa)

As you progress through the ranks, your trainer will bestow upon you new titles and better weaponry, however missions will require you to hide the fact that you are a Jedi most of the time (just a theory).

You just can't be some force sensitive dude in a huge galaxy and fight things. Hell, you don't even know how to force push yet. You must begin training. Training ALWAYS starts as Padawan. Padawan are considered Jedi. Period. Jedi is a starting class.

Sounds like fun

Alsoa quote from the FAQ about the 9 classes to back up the OP if I understood it correctly:

---

4. Jedi = Luke Skywalker

Jedi are Force Sensitive beings that can use their Force powers to over-come and control their enemies and can master the art of fighting with a lightsaber. Force Sensitive individuals feel a connection to the energy that surrounds all living things and binds the galaxy together.

General Skills:

  • Lightsaber Combat
  • Force Powers
  • Meditation

Special:

  • Block Blaster Bolts- Block Blaster bolts using a Force powered lightsaber.
  • Force Lightning- Call down the Force power of lightning to weaken your opponent's strength during battle.

Snip from Tiggs's post, (before it got deleted)

Why don't we use skill trainers to buy skills anymore?

The primary goal of the new game enhancements is to increase the fun factor and bring the Star Wars adventure alive in-game. The Trainer experience is not one that maximizes either fun or Star Wars excitement and therefore we put the focus on questing, adventuring and socializing to help players advance and earn skills.

So then how do I gain a skill?

When you have earned enough experience points for a skill within your profession you are granted that skill. When you have earned enough experience points to gain a combat level, your combat level is increased. This is a departure from the existing system which was far more complex and forced you to acquire experience points, "spend" them on a chosen skill, and then the system calculated your combat level based on the experience point costs of all the skills you had acquired. Now combat level is based solely on experience points earned – simple, easy, fun and less time spent wandering around looking for trainers and more time living the Star Wars saga!

ffs.

Its not said ANYWHERE that jedi r a starting prof. Its said that FS are.

Its said that "jedi are force sensitives blah blah.." but NOT that every FS is a Jedi.

here's the list of starting profs, according to brawler coro after his visit in austin:

Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Medic, Force Sensitive, Officer (think SL), Tradesman, Entertainer, Spy. Poli and Pilot will remain unchanged.
