Thread: ***The Jedi Guardians Template: MLS / 4000 Healer / 4440 Defender / 3002 Enhancer***
Very nice template LIKspiker, close to something I had been thinking of.
Presently Master Defender, but not sure I want to keep that, and I really always loved the MLS box, as that what I was Pre-CU anyway.
One question though. What is the cap for LS speed and Accuracy? I'm just getting back in the game and I'm not sure on all the numbers yet.
Greetings Jedi ![]()
I thought I would post about my own template and share with you my experiences in PvE and PvP with it. My inspiration for this template is from the game KOTOR, which many of you are familiar with. This template has nothing to do with the FRS rank of Guardian (thats a totally different story all together).
In KOTOR, a Jedi Guardian is a master of the Lightsaber and they train extensively with Lightsaber combat. They are the more "assertive" sort of Jedi who trusts their prowess with a Lightsaber above other force abilities. My template is based upon using the Lightsaber to its fullest extent and a large part of my template is dedicated to making the Lightsaber a powerful and deadly weapon.
THIS TEMPLATE IS FOR YOU IF:
- You enjoy fighting with a Lightsaber and using all of its abilities.

- You like to take the front line in group PvP.
- You like to be able to tank a decent amount (not as good as a Master Defender).
- You want to stay away from the cookie cutter FOTM Master Defender while still having Defender in your template.
- You want to have a balanced template that has superb offense, good defense, great healing, and some neat Enhancer tricks.
THIS TEMPLATE IS NOT FOR YOU IF:
- You prefer to play a support role in PvP or PvE.
- You do not like Lightsaber combat.
- You want an abudance of nifty Jedi tricks (specifically Enhancer ones)
- You like healing wounds or assisting people more
- You want a more "evil" Dark Jedi sort of template, Powers might be for you if this is the case.

The Breakdown
Master Lightsaber: To fit my "Guardian" RP role, MLS was a must. You get all the attacks possible for the Lightsaber, notably Bodyhit, Leghit, Headhit and Powerattack. It is possible to attack very quickly and deadly if you rotate between Bodyhit, Leghit, and Headhit attacks. Powerhit and armorbreak are also very important skills to have as well. You also get advanced saberthrow which is not only a powerful attack on its own, it is also the only form of saberthrow that canknockdown (since Patch 19). Also you get all the speed/accuracy mods trainable (you can cap on speed an accuracy by getting CA's).
4000 Healer: I've always believed that 4000 healer is a must, and even more so at Patch 19. Since there is mind costs and a 6 second delay to forceheals, it is very important to make the most out of each heal. Why heal for 1000 every six seconds when u could heal for 1500 every 6 seconds? It makes a big difference.
4440 Defender: This is where your Defense comes from. Since a Jedi with this template is focused mainly on Lightsaber combat, they are going to be fighting within melee range of everybody. The first two branches gives you innate armor, which absorbs your damage. The third branch gives you Aura, which is very important when fighting Melee and Ranged alike. Not only does it mitigate damage, it also causes your opponents to miss far more often then if Aura wasn't on. Whatever does hit you will get absorbed by +54 innate armor (the same as 5400 armor which can compare to normal armors such as the Clone Trooper armors). 4440 Defender will make you a quite an effective tank yet will still leave you with more skill points to use on extra skills.
3002 Enhancer: The first column gives you the Basic Forcerun ability (Forcerun 1). Forcerun 1 allows you to run slightly slower then burst run, and gives you +33 points in terrain negotiation. FR1 does not suffer a damage penalty like FR2 and FR3 so therefore u can leave it on while fighting. You also get the Basic Force Suppression ability, which will +ROOT+ your target for a short time. Force suppression comes in very handy in keeping ranged and fleeing opponents within melee range so that you can effectively use your Lightsaber. Also with Patch 19 adding a warmup to Powerhit, Force Suppression keeps your opponent still so that you can easily use this ability. You also get Force speed 2, and when combined with MLS, allows you to attack very quickly (especially when using Bodyhit, Leghit, Headhit); another bonus is that the warmup on Powerhit is drastically shortened to the point where you barely notice it. xxx2 Enhancer gives you Force Channel which is (in my opinion) a very important skill for all Jedi. You also get Force Wave, which is handy in certain situations especially against non-Jedi, but is easily countered with Forcerun.
TEMPLATE STATISTICS
- Force Power Max +6150 (at Padawan - FRS will add more Force, unless they change it with the new FRS)
- Force Regeneration +55 (same as above)
- Innate Jedi Armor +54
- Jedi State Defense +15
- Force Defense +80 (Defense vs. Force Powers)
- Lightsaber Block +25 (at Padawan, FRS MAY add more block)
- Melee Defense +170
- Ranged Defense +160
- Double Bladed / One Handed / Two Handed Lightsaber Speed +100
- Double Bladed / One Handed / Two Handed Lightsaber Accuracy +140
- Lightsaber Assembly +100
- Lightsaber Experimentation +100
- General Melee Accuracy +87 (This mod effects Lightsabers as well)
- General Melee Speed +32 (This mod effects Lightsabers as well)
PROS
- Very powerful template for Lightsaber combat.

- Capable of doing a decent amount of tanking.
- Has access to some nifty Enhancer tricks such as Forcerun, Suppression, Wave, Channel, Forcespeed.
- Superb healing when things get rough
CONS
- Not a very good template for escaping rough situations (a template with at least FR2 and Cloak might be better for you).
- Inferior to Enhancers in their application of +ROOT+, +SNARE+ (you only get the basic versions with my template).
- Lack of Crowd Control abilities (Stasis, and other Enhancer stuff).
- Cant heal wounds.
Well heres my template. As you can see its focus is on Lightsaber combat and defense with a few crowd control abilities thrown in the side. In organized PvP, it might be helpful to bring a Master Enhancer along because they can +ROOT+ for a longer duration then what this template can. Also Enhancers have a ton of other crowd control abilities that help out the damage dealers (like this template) significantly. If you love to fight with a Lightsaber, and lookingto RP more as a Light Jedithen this template is the right one for you. If you are looking to be an evil Sith Lord then you might want to consider taking up Powers. If you like to be in the front lines during PvP and maybe tank a little during PvE, this template is perfect. All in all, this template is very balanced for combat and doesnt need to rely too much on other templates to be successful (although having a balanced group complete with Crowd Controllers and Support (Healers, Powers) people will make this template shine even more).
**Patch 21 Update**
Prior to this patch, Force Speed was +15 and Improved Force Speed was +25. In order to balance combat, the devs decided that they should shave off some of the effectiveness of Force Speed. Force Speed is now +10 and Improved Force Speed is now +20.
I have tested Improved Force Speed a couple times in duels, and I dont notice too much of a difference in speed. Fortunately, for people that have this template or similiar templates, this slight nerf will not affect us that much, and it is still worth it to get Improved Force Speed.

personally I'm of the opinion that force armor 2 would be a better use of skillpoints instead of ranged defense 4 though.
with FA2 and 4040 defender you get advanced aura and +42 innate armor. that adds up to +87 armor with FA2 activated.
also I have my fingers crossed for Force Armor bonuses, as well as saber block bonuses in the FRS. with saber block bonuses I will feel better about dropping the ranged defense
MLS, 4440 Defender, 4100 Healer, 0004 Enhancer
I, too, wanted to stay away from the FotM MDefender. I do like having defense that doesn't cost force though, which is why I'm not picking up force armor and/or just going with 0040 Defender or soemthing along those lines.
I didn't pick up force speed or force run just cause I didn't have the sp. I chose 0004 Enhancer to recover quickly from fights (regen force faster than just channel which also makes me more vulnerable) and the improved snare is handy on those trying to kite me.
I have 4100 healer for the same reasons as previously mentioned, the 1500 heal. And wound healing is something I greatly enjoy (I have no idea why
I'm currently MLS, 3330 Defender, 3100 Healer, 0003 Enhancer (there you go BHs

Just a question for ya, if you have MLS, what do you need Force Speed 2 for?? I mean with Force Speed 1 it shoudl easily push you to the speed cap for your saber.... no??
Force speed will benefit even if you have MLS, all the Speed tapes for your lightsaber, and general melee speed tapes. The improvement wont be as drastic if you have all the tapes versus if you just have MLS, but you still get some improvement.

I thought about that, so right now Im banking the XP and researching a little more into FA2. So far i've been very happy with my template so far, so Im kinda reluctant to change it.
I've heard that FA2 is very effective now but soaks up force during longer battles. I also like having my armor already there for me, and so if I get ambushed (BH, Cloakers) then I will be mitigating a significant amount of damage from that very first shot and I dont have to fumble around worrying about getting my FA on. Im also a little reluctant to get FA2 cause it seems to be the new FOTM branch that everyone is going to dive into. Im definitely not saying that FA should be nerfed however, and I like that theres an alternative to Defender.
