Thread: Combat System
Well, I played a game called Neocron a while back. While I saw a possibility for it to be a good game, it had absolutly no player base. It was fun playing a twitch FPS MMORPG game but no one played it. I can see where SWG is heading and I just hope it retains enough of a player base to keep this style of system fun. The Star Wars name will probably keep it going for a while but if they bork this up we can all find a new MMO to play.
As for hotkeys, the FPS MMO's I have played did have hotkeys for things like, medpacks/stims, enhancements, weapon changes, etc...so I would assume the game will ahve hotkeys but nothing like it is now. Everything will be skill based and you will have to increase your skill as you progress up. If not, your just going to get smoked against the harder creatures and players but the days of hotkey spamming on a lair/macro writing are long gone.

I just really hate when you just click on something to hit it...it is boring and well boring...and hopefully not kotr controls that was the worst rpg combat system i have played
Don't think click and attack like Diablo. There is no auto attack no hack-n-slash. Picture this. Take Half-Life or any other FPS your familiar with. Take that view into SWG with a Scatter Pistol. Take a Bol on Dantooine and now fight it like you would fight something in Half Life with left click Firing and Right click Alternate firing. You may or may not see a life bar above this mob but if you do then you will see how much health it has left as you can now. You can also take evasive action to get out of the way of its attacks. The better your skill is at FPS and avoiding incoming damage, the better you'll be able to fight mobs in the new SWG. If the changes I read are anything like I think, this is what we can expect. Now just think of some of the possibilities with the GCW with a system such as this....I'm kinda excited to see it but we have been let down before.
