I started to play SWG in feb '04. My buddies from Planetside and Renegade urged me to come to the "dark side" and try out this game.

Granted, this game should of been a no brainer for me, as I was a Star Wars fan way back when I watched the first run of "A new Hope" at the tender age of twelve in 1977.

Darth Vader was my anti-hero.

I didn't start the game when it rolled out because I thought, "why play StarWars if you don't have a vehicle or starship". So I waited.

Once I started to play, I got hooked. I wanted to become a MBH, and I did. Over the coming months, the different publishes pushed some of my friends away. Yet I stayed.

It got to a point where out of the 30 people in my guild, only three of us were still kicking in the last part of '04.

What a let down of the promise this game had to offer. The reason varied, but the real lack of "CONTENT" drove away alot of them.

I mean, how many times can you run "picket" missions?

To fill the void of content, I started the grind for Jedi. I managed to finish my template just as the CU hit. I was able to see the power before this thing hit, and I was not happy.

Yet, with the CU and the wookie world, some people came back to the game. new and old. My guild went to 80 people. our little outpost grew into a city.

but after the initial rush of the "i wanna be a jedi" crowd, and the severe bugs in RoTW, people again drifted away. The city became a ghost town again, but I stayed.

There were whispers back at this time for players to move on.... but the lure of Star Wars is great.... Some said the CU would kill SWG, that the shoe has dropped on it, but I stayed in game to play. I did the wookie world quests, I got my Bane's heart, I lost one BH fight out of the only two that ever came after me, but I stayed.

Then the annoucement of Obi-wan expansion. I didn't see the surge of new people like before, but there were signs that people may come back.

Then the other shoe dropped.

CU2. Total change of the game.

I fear for my Jedi. I fear for the players that come into this game thinking Jedi to be something strong, just like the movies. I fear this game may die.

I will try this new game. I will see for myself if this game holds the same wonder it did way back when.

If it doesn't, I will move on, sadder, but hopefully a bit wiser......

Salute to all you vocal minority players. We may not be great - but they at least heard about us enough to comment on what we do here.

(post script)

SOE - you better have a droid in game telling people to check the website, 5 out of 8 players I talked to last night had no idea your changing the game this much.... As you state, not every player visits this website or forum, you have been warned.....
