Thread: Couple of Q's for the experienced Master Powers among you..

Greets,

I've been away for a while, and just picked up my Jedi again and have a couple of questions for the more experienced master powers users if that's cool.

My current template is: Mpowers, LS 0/4/0/4, Healing 3/0/0/0, Enhance 2/2/0/2

Currently headingto:Mpowers, LS 0/4/0/4, Healing 4/0/0/0, Enhance 3/4/0/2

Q1. Is the debuff in the master powers box working correctly? I was fighting a good friend of mine yesterday for a mess about, and it took no less than approximately three attempts to remove his force buffs. Often it removes none, occassionally it removes one, and maybe one in six tries it removed them all. If this is correct, maybe the discription that states that it removes all the force buffs from the target Jedi should be changed. It's pretty missleading. All in all, we agreed it's a lame move for a master box.

Q2. Is there anymove that can improve it's effectiveness? We gave a few a go, including weaken, which I thought worked, because I proceeded to remove all his buffs twice in a row with the debuff move. Unfortunately, I then removed none three times in a row again, by which time I was dead (several times over). I could have not removed his force buffs and just gone offensive of course, however...

Q3. Am I understanding that there is no counter to force shield aside from the 1 in 3 chance of success (often less chance) debuff move in the master powers box? I kinda thought that powers was an all out offensive tree to compliment sabers, which is what I thought I was sacrificing defenses for. The glass cannon type of thing. The problem iswhen force shield goes up, I'm pretty much just left with LS 0/4/0/4 as offensive capabilities. It nullifies pretty much a whole trees damage dealing offensive moves. I understand everything has to have a counter, but it seems to me that powers is the only tree that can be nullified to such an extent with a single, long lasting move.

Q4. I currently have Force Armour 1, which I picked up last night, with a view to going to Force Amour 2. I notice that the damage it stops seems to be random. I had a freind beat me with a saber over and over again without armour break, and while the drain doesn't seem significant, the protection it offers seems to go anywhere from 8% ish to 30% for the same move. Is this random, and is Force Armour 2 going to do me any additional defensive favours (preferablynot so randomly).

Q5. Any other template specifictips you might have to give to someone who's just come back and played the game sincepre CU would be much appeciated. I left just after it was launched. (KD/Root/Run/Cloak doesn't count ).

Any little tidbits of info would be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Mopy

i would roll right thro that template you have no defense at all even with 1.5 heals agood enhnacer using force abosrb and force sheild your powers will be like a bug bite
even with force armor as its tinny defense i could just sit there and take hits and heal and hit you so your force goes down and then go for the kill

Firstly welcome back to SWG,

Q1) Yes For Breach is working as liek you stated, alhtough by the description its misleading. This move would be great in pvp however somtimes with no luck in debuffing Jedi, you waste a few opportunities to heal or attack. Tbh it needs improving, the best results I've had is debuffing a MLS's force speed 3 times in a fight.

Q2) Nope, just pray for a good breach!

Q3) No counter, just force breach and hope it works. Also a M.Def with Force Shield is immortal when using only Force Powers, seems out of order considering all the SP invested in this 'offensive# profession.

Q4)NOt sure about Force Armour, it drains force and as a M.Powers you are already force intensive.

Good luck mate with Powers in CU, We are more effective against other profession than MCM/Jedi however, so don't be upset too much. :-)

Alrighty, cheers mate

That helps a lot. Might give it more of a chance in that case seeing as the only thing I've tried fighting so far is a MLS/Def/Enh with superior heals.Maybe hang back a little and just play support for my defender buddy for now and see what happens in the future, and if it's a no go, use the respec when theFRS comes back for Jedi V Jedi.

Found the force armour thread up the forum a bit too, so got the stats off that one also.

Thanks again Revealing & Crunchy, That's all the info I needed to get started again.
Take Care!

Q1: Breach has a 50% cahnce to remove any force buff besides AI. It rolls separately for each buff currently running.

Q2: Not that I have found

Q3: Froce shield really sucks. It nullifies practically all of your force moves. Stick to the sabre in cases where theyre running those and throw and occasional breach in and hope you get lucky.

Q4: I only have the first Force Armour. Yes I take a ton of damage, but then I would take a lot anyway since no defenses. having that extra bit of armour helps though.

Q5: Get accuracy enhancements, both force accuracy and general ranged accuracy. They will up your damage on all moves, and let you hit more which you will find is a good thing since we miss alot. Use choke. It rips the **Mod Bot - Be Nice** outta nonjedi and can improve your dps on jedi.

yeah Mehnance is the foil to Mpowers.. dont wexpect to be able to hurt them much if they know what they are doing.. they can allways reapply force shield... powers is amazing vs non jedi though - particularly BH in energy resist recon armour.. they have virtually no defence vs it

I have the template you are working toward. I will agree that we can have a very hard time with JvJ encounters, some templates are damn near impossible for me to beat.

One thing I have noticed is that intimidate by itself only reduces damage by 20%, but if you stack stun, and dizzy with it they have a much larger effect on over all mitigation, I have seen as much as 47%. Now add that to your 20% Jedi innate Armor, 40% Force Armor, and 20% mitigation from Wafers.

Use Mind Blast, Saber Throw, Force Intim, and Weaken as you kite. If you can keep those states on while ranged, you can keep working Breach until you get their defenses to drop faster than they can re-apply them. Once they're down go at them like a madman with AB, KD, Choke, Saber and Lightning.

Even tho we use a lot of force we can chanel while cloaked, and will have the first strike when we re-appear. So if you get low on force root, FR1, and Cloak. Then watch your opponent, if he starts to chanel you may decide to just pop out right away and go for him while his HAM is low.

One of the biggest banes for us is our exceptionaly high Action costs. If your opponent has Sap it can make for a very long fight.

Heyas,

Thanks a lot all. I see that there's actually more options than I first thought, especially defenses wise. I see all the state effects have changed too. Interesting indeed. Thanks for the comments about those, looks like somehotbar reorganization is in order.Deffinately worth more of a shot though. I don't mind losing in the slightest, just not all the time

One final non jedi specific question though, if that's ok. I've just started to build a suit for myself a suit, and have +25 two handed saber speed over three CA's. The catch is, they all have additional mods on them that are irrelevant, some two, some three, such as heavy weapon speed, and rifle defense. Assuming +25 is stll the max total for CA's, is there a max for the number of mods per item of clothing?

I understand that all three CA's have to go on seperate items of clothing to get the total of +25 for the two haned saber ones to stack. What I'm not sure of is, can you have an unlimited amount of mods per piece of clothing.

For example, you loot 4 CA's. One with 2h Saber speed +25, one with 2h saber accuracy +25, one with +25 force accuracy and one with general ranged accuracy +25. Each one of these CA's has two other mods on them however. If all placed in one item of clothing, will all the mods apply?

Thanks again, everyones been real helpful.

::Edit ok, I just read that LS speed CA's aren't working, so ignore that part Still wondering how many mods per 4CA's per item of clothing work though

Check out Randdarkstar's POST-CU Guide to Skill Tape Application, in the Tailor forum, for some good info on CA application.

Not sure if I understand you, I think I am tired. The amount of Sockets a peice of clothing has is the amount of mods it can have on them (Note: you can't have the same mod on a peice of clothing as i learned the hard way rofl) PM if you like and we cna use MSN etc to talk about it. As I have been CA'ing my Wookiee garments LOL.
