Thread: Get rid of the force bar...

The force bar is nothing but a stay of execution for most jedi. BH/CM are just adjusting their playing style just to wait it out. We need to get rid of the force bar all together. What you say? In every movie, book, and even cartoon there is never a referernce about running out of force. It is everywhere all the time and is about the stupidest idea soe came up with for jedi to put it on a bar that just runs out. How would this new system work? Your amount of gaining force would be the same, you just grind your boxes and advance as usuall. The only change would be is that the force as you advance up the jedi ladders turns into a quality, not quantity issue. The higher you attain, more skill points you use up, the betterin tune with the force andthe more quality of the force is attained.

An exampe....at lower levels a jedi's saber does less damage, but as he attains higher levels and acccumulates more force his attacks speed up and do more damage. And this can also still be used with the current branches. If a jedi decides on master sabers, his damage has bonuses along with the increased knowledge of the force. Same goes for healers. At lower levels the heals are less and takes longer, as he gets more attuned with force, heals are greater and less time in between heals.

please add to this thread the pro's and cons and some good examples of how it would effect other branches of force.

I think this concept should be the second most wanted feature, aside from FRS. What devolopers should do is...

  • Remove Force bar

    • Slightly increase mind/action cost for all abilties to avoid unbalancement.

    • Have AIuse 50% mind and action. Lasts for 30s. Downtime should be 30 seconds.

    • Give enhancer tree xxx4 new skills and abilties.

Doing these follows steps should and enable this concept to work.

The BH's that hunt Jedi the most are your "colleagues", in other words Jedi with a weed up their arse for other Jedi.

Normally they are bored and have nothing better to do, plus they are a student of most Jedi moves and abilities.

Just don't entertain them, it's not worth it. If you are a PvP junkie then thats different, but for those of us that bought this game to experience Star Wars and not PvP wars, just cloak or force run out of there.

I think the Force bar reasonablely works with most Force abilities except the 4440 Lightsaber skills. Just does not seem right that those melee skills should use Force. But for healing, powers, and enhancershaving a Force costseems reasonable and makes me feel more Jedi like.
I'm not including 0004 lightsaber since there is a lightsaber throw skill involved.

Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.

there is no need to get rid of it, simply increase the base effectivness of jedi both defenceivly and offensivly, (by base i mean at padawan") so that non jedi can not tank jedi for the 20+ minutes the force takes to run out and lower the forcecost on all jedi specials and moves.

I have to agree, The force bar is the jedi version of the mind bar. Alot of things about jedi are very messed up atm. I havn't logged in for about a month now... Jedi Bores me and i just can't enjoy my character with constant bh worries.

At the moment it's Old jedi vs New jedi. I grinded in both systems to become a jedi. My saber sucks, my template needs changing. Sadly i don't have the time to spend 10 hours playing this game to grind 1 million exp... This just isn't fun. I've been playing EQ2 and holy god i dono why but i'm enjoying it..

oh..if your wondering the reason i don't quit is even tho i hate this game i still love it also i've been playing since the begining and don't want it to end i just want it to get better, sadly it's been getting worse. Many people will agree with me that this game has never been as enjoyable as it was when the game first came out, when the empire ment somthing, when pvp ment somthing. I'm on the all station pass so cancling this game would mean nothing becouse i'm still paying for it.

No. Getting rid of the Force bar is not the solution.
Speed up the regeneration rate alot at least when out of combat, increase regeneration rate for force meditation by a bunch to make it useful, make force power specials only cost force while lightsaber specials cost only action (except saber throw, since one would have to use the force for that, obviously). The Force bar represents the fatigue you have for touching and manipulating the force. Just like the action bar is there to represent fatigue of the body and the mind bar fatigue of the mind. Once the forcebar is depleted, you are too fatigued and can't concentrate on the Force enough to control it. If you remove the force bar/pool we are not Jedi anymore. I know that the munchkins won't care, but it's part of the immersion of being Jedi, one of the few things left that sets us apart from non-Jedi gameplay (and engine) wise.

It's clear to me since the addition of Mind/Actioncost that the ForceBar needs some tweaking.

I have never seen the purpose of forcecost for saberattacks and I have been against that since the first day I heard about it. To me it's action for physical exercise, force for forcepowers.

Either the forcebar simply needs to be removed, action/mindcost added to everything.

Another option, is to up the regeneration to 250 and dump the max forcebar to ~3000, levelbased and not boxbased.

Thisshould also be boostable with food, and regenerated by x4 speed when sitting down.

If you believe that's absurd you should know that's EXACTLY how the mindbar works right now.

Regardless I would like force removed from sabers. Just convert current force reduction into actionreduction instead.

To be anywhere near doctors the cost for healing need to be cut down to about 1/3-1/4. To be anywhere near Commando, the cost for forcepowers need to be cut down a heap.

Unless the regeneration is upped that is.

--- Cancelled 24th November 2006
Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.
