first want to say that this thread is not meant as anything other than a constructive post. I think our correspondent is doing a great job, just as all of them have in the past, as much as they possibly could. However, our profession needs immediate attention. I realize that there are many bugs in the game. I realize that with any profession in order to maintain any level of balance, one profession cannot be the ALPHA class. However:
- It was SOE decision (or someones) to put Jedi into the game as a playable class.
- Dev's made Jedi very easy to get even for the casual gamer who knew how to set up macro's once people learned that they only needed to find Holo's and Master every profession to Unlock. Did Devs think 99% of the server population would think this was too much work and no one would try? Lmao. Ok, back to consrtuctive.. oops.
- As more and more players unlock jedi, it becomes more and more necessary by devs vision to nerf jedi more and more until they are as they are today, our State of the Jedi Address must make it clear to the DEvs that something stinks, and it needs to be fixed.
So after unlocking my slot in may of 2004, i have seen many many many changes to jedi. Heck i still have 200k of one handed lightsaber xp from the old original jedi skill system. Lets be honest here, the devs have been 'trying' to find ways of limiting jedi but have failed. I think by know they realize that everyone who wants jedi will have jedi and if not already, most have a jedi character now. Realizing this, the devs have only one option, make jedi about as powerful as a typical profession, if not weaker, but having more options in his/her template and more well rounded. Devs promised CU would bring balance to combat professions, and eliminate fotm templates. None of this has occurred, yet. Now they are working on new expansion. So im not sure where that puts balance on the list of most important fixes that need to be addressed.
Thoughts:
- Everyone or most everyone want to be jedi if they dont already have one. At some point players with a jedi will reach 75% or higher.
-Everyone who is not Jedi or even if they are want their main or alt to be a Master Bounty Hunter, Master Combat Medic. Heck, i have 2 alts who are such templates... hehe
- Regular elite professions dont offer much , as jedi and bounty hunter have everything at their disposal... healing, dmg, defenses, etc.
- Bounty Hunters have solo missions which give them awesome loot, jedi do not. This was designed knowing with respec everyone would respec to MBH, so devs smartly put in mechanism to assure all bh are not constantly taking jedi missions, instead they are doing npc missions because there is more reward and very little risk of losing. I rarely see a BH these days, (knock on wood)
- Something needs to be done to balance Jedi and BH professions, if not already too late ( I suggest making Bounty Hunter take just as long and require just as many hours and experience points to grind as jedi, make both bh and jedi equal in dmg for the most part, and remove them from both from gcw and have these classes as the elite professions)
-Risk & Time INvestedvs reward. There is none. Jedi is currently a light show and have similar skills (different name) and flashy graphix, but really, jedi are a waste of time other than for the roleplay aspect. When i want to pvp or pve i take out my mbh, mcm.
- Jedi get 24 sp less than every other profession. IF they gave this back at Knight when frs comes back, if it comes back, it would give incentive to jedi to continue playing. Since most players will end up having a jedi, why not cater to them, jedi are now the majority, not the minority.
- Lightsaber speed bug needs to be addressed. This bug was confirmed, but what about powers not working correctly?
- Master LIghtsaber/ Master Defender = Regular dmg out put, longer lasting in combat due to awesome defenses (how it should be)
- Master Powers / Master Enhancer = Damage Dealer but little defense with some crowd control. Needs to add area root (short period like 5 seconds) and area snare. Either support us as crowd control, or give us intimidate and knockdown without area attack, currently if we use we aggro everything in the world if we use, so solo it does nothing for us, waste of 2 full tree's.
- Balance needs to be addressed in time vs reward. What is the point of grinding so much if we have no power or special benefits. yes i know i will get flamed for this, but i will get flamed anyway, so im just being honest. If jedi are to be same power as other professions, even after a year of work and 50m worth of in game credits to be less useful than a mbh, mcm. EITHER MAKE JEDI AS EASY TO GRIND AS ALL OTHER PROFESSIONS AND EQUAL IN POWER, OR GIVE US OUR DUE FOR OUR HARD WORK. IT IS ONLY FAIR. Balance does not only mean in terms of power, it is also risk and time vs reward.
- Bounty Hunter profession needs to be just as hard to achieve as Jedi. I mean, really. The benefits for being a mbh, mcm are better than being a jedi. You dont get hunted, you are the hunter, you can do same dmg, heal as often as u want , jedi have 6 sec timer, get first strike capability, more weapon options. And only takes a simple respec or at max 3 days to grind. I have been working on my jedi for a year, changed template a few times, but everytime i do it i have to regrind 20m skill points getting 1/5 the xp a bh or regular professions gets.
- Light jedi and dark jedi faction. Take us out of gcw. Jedi should be equivalent to 90-100 combat level. Bounty Hunters can group to attack jedi, so jedi should be able to group to get xp. There should be a risk for bh just as there is for jedi. How can anyone say there shouldnt. Being a jedi should be and is just as exciting and fun as being jedi. Only jedi is much tougher but what is the point if everyone is calling on nerfs even though we are already less powerful than every other combat profession? There is zero logic to it.
- Bounty Hunters should only be able to attack pve and bounty targets, no pvp, or if allowed in gcw, then there should be a dmg mitigator for pvp, but bh should be like 85-95 combat lvl. There should be no "i win" button between jedi and bh. It should be skill based competition at master level. Padawans should still be hunted. If they get on terms, that is their fault, there are plenty of methods to stay off the terms. I dont aggree with moving bh jedi missions til jedi finishes temp. That also doesnt make sense.
- There are bugs with every profession. But come on. I dont want new content, i want existing content working 100% first or as close as possible. Known bugs that are not fixed is just ridiculous. If you know about it, why in the heck wouldnt you fix it? Very little with any jedi profession works, Defender is too uber, powers is powerless. Please fix. This needs to be the absolute priority of our correspondent.Calling for nerfs on jediis like kicking someone when they are down. It is just wrong. Im starting to refer to galaxies as: Star Wars Galaxies, the Nerf Wars. or Revenge of the Bounty Hunters. For petes sake, throw us a bone, we have worked our butts off to get jedi only to be nerfed like no other or have our profession bugged and unworking and all we keep getting is more nerfs.
Last i want to say that i do like this game. It is fun regardless, and a lot HAS been improved. But they insisted on the Combat Revamp, NOT US. They need to do their job and fix the bugs and give us balance, and balance vs reward. And finally, make up your mind with skills. You eliminate animal attack to give us cloak, then nerf your own change. Make up your mind and stick with it. Test, Test, Test, and then deliver. Dont give us more content if your not going to support your own product or fix your own mistakes. I want bugs fixed. I want professions working, all of them. Not just jedi. I want jedi to be worth the riskand time for once instead of constant neglect.
I encourage positive feedback and constructive comments and ideas on how this can be resolved. To our correspondent: Please, we beg you. I know you work hard and do what you can, but the devs need to know our number one concern is not Mustufar, its playing a working game. It knowing that the devs care about us and our hard earned money.
I can see a stronger game if these issue are addressed. I ask this in jedi forums because jedi are seriously lacking for the time and effort we put in. but all professions, including smuggler need help. Thanks

but what happens to the already existing MBH...do they get to keep their new "elite" skill or are they forced to lose what they've worked for?

Of course BH should keep what they have. I am actually assuming that most will or already have a character with mbh template. Its just for fun for people to play as a bh or jedi and that is what we need content for. Bh should be bh. They dont fight in gcw. They are the best at solo combat. I do not want an I WIN button for either. They should be almost equal, with a full template jedi IN the FRS could become 'MORE' powerful, but other than that they should be relatively equal.
However, bh should get a penalty for losing, such has been proposed before to have bh lose investigation xp and if they are negative they cant take jedi mission again. Hunting jedi however MUST not become griefing situation such as it is, however it has gotten better now that bh dont know there mark till they are on the same planet. One bh constantly taking a particular jedi mission is abusive and just wrong imo. It should be fair and balanced. BH are supposed to hunt their marks, and it has to be equal to both sides to some degree, but, and you must understand this, jedi did grind a ton of professions, and xp over and over at 1/5th normal.. if u did it, you would want a bonus for your hard work in some capacity, dont lie, you KNOW u would. BH should become much harder to grind out. But be a pve and jedi only profession.. they can duel or enter battlefield, but cannot claim faction of any sort. BH work for themselves. They do not group up.
I want to see the end to bh griefing specific jedi.. let it be fair. We want a good fight right? Not one sided uber fest templates? But there must be a bonus for jedi for their dedication other than just wielding a glow stick or have lightning bolts come out his/her hands. There must be something extra for jedi no matter how many they are. The devs cant just keep ignoring a profession that requires 30 million XP which is equal to 150 million for any other profession since we only get 1/5 the xp. Just to get our jedi we had to master 30 professions. To master BH you only need 3 days. 3 DAYS! That just isnt fair.
And for crying out loud devs please, light and dark jedi need their own faction. pump us up in pvp, give us combat lvl 90-100, but take us out of gcw. Take BH out of gcw, and make it harder but more rewarding, or balance the current risk/time reward mechanism. Something needs to change, and soon.

i see ur point on that last point. But think about it, a Rifleman that wants to master his profession, usually wouldnt specialize in pistols also. IRL that is. But jedi cant continue to train each way of the force? would be could if it was possible to train all to master. Just make the 250+ sp like 10 xp max per kill and millions of xp requred. dunno... but i just dont like powers gimped as it is, thats for sure.

It should remain as it is, other than bug fixes. I think the perception of being nerf'd comes, at least in part, from the fact that the devs are trying to balance Jedi without fixing bugs first. This is basically unintented nerfs compounded by deliberate ones.
If the LS speed bugs, pearl drops, etc. were to be fixed, we would see Jedi actually stronger than they appear to be now. I just wish they would fix the bugs first. ![]()

One more thing. I consider the 6 FS trees to be the 'Novice' boxes to the Jedi 'Elite' boxes. If you think of a regular elite profession, how many skill points do they use on novice professions that do little more than use up skill points? They offer only a little boost to someone's CL, only one or two specials, usually no real defenseand noarmor certifications. At least in the FS trees you get a variety of defenses and speed modifiers, usually more than you would get in a novice profession, and all at the cost of fewer skill points. Example, you would need to spend 43 novice skill point before being qualified for an elite melee profession. Same thing for profs in the basic ranged profs. yet Jedi only need to spend24 skill points before qualifying for an elite profession. That seems pretty balanced to me.
