Thread: Anyone else experience this?

I logged on to Star Wars Galaxies and way playing my Pistoleer/Ranger character that I've had since launch day. I'm strolling around and get a system message to the effect that I have unlocked my Force Sensitive Slot. Some delightful music plays as I read the message over and over again. Like anyone would do (well almost anyone), I immediately logout of my character to see whats instore for creation of my new Force Sensitive Character.

I create a cool looking male Zabrak and am delighted to find that I log onto my galaxy to notice that there are HAM bonuses on my new character. From creation, he is a scout because I figure I will do some exploring. At this point my wife returns home and I am sharing my new found excitement about SWG as I have FINALLY unlocked my FSS. She doesn't share my enthusiasm about this "game" but is excited for me none the less, for as someone who has never played this game (and probably never will), she has heard more than her share of FSS theories etc etc. She asks me about my lightsaber and stuff like that. I chuckle and explain to her that my new character is ONLY force sensitive....He isn't a Jedi yet.

I continue to play a while longer, noticing subtle things about my gameplay. I am hitting things more often, am moving with much more ease and things are more "noticable" to me.

Next thing I know is that I am awake, my wife lying next to me and the sad truth begins to sink in.

It was all just a dream.

hehehe

Thought I'd share my Saturday AM experience with you all.

No, this hasn't happened to me, but something similar happened to a friend of mine. He called me the other day and said 'I had a dream about SWG'. And I was like 'Oh yeah? What was it?' and he said 'I dreamed you opened your force slot and called me up all calm and just said "I did it"'.

heh heh..

Yes. it happens on the occasional mission. I'm guessing this was the Avoid Imperial Ambush mission.

PS finding a Reb with /vrepairother is a nice way to avoid actually failing a mission that fails under a circumstance like yours.

I found a couple times that if I IFF and get destroyed or Eject while the IFF is active you get dragged to a repair location and the mission continues... Might be coincidence though...

I was trying to complete the Smuggler Alliance Tier 4.2 mission with 2 other people helping me. We managed to get to the point that the secondtarget ship (lambda shuttle)was captured and we were escorting it like all the other escort missions that went before. We got overwhelmed at one point by the imperial spawns, and after a long, hard battle, my wingmates were destroyed and I was taking serious damage. I managed to disable the VT that spawned but in doing so, I was disabled and if not for a quick IFF scramble, I would have been destroyed. Unfortunately I was rendered completely immobile and had to sit there and watch the lambda crawl out of site. I thought that perhaps if I held on long enough, the shuttle might hyper out and then the mission would be complete.

I waited almost 10 minutes and the thing did hyper out. However, that was not the end of the mission; I recieved a new waypoint and got the usual green mission text about the next step. I sent my 2 wingmates to the waypoint I had listed to see what was there, and if they might be able to do something that would complete the mission while I sat dead in space. Sadly, the waypoint was empty - apparently as the mission holder I needed to be there to get the "next step" to spawn. So without the ability to get repaired way out where I was, and thinking that as soon as I hit the big red eject button I would lose the mission, I decided to suck it up, eject, get repaired at the station and head back to get the mission again and start over.

When I reloaded at the station, it suddenly dawned on me that I still had the mission waypoint, and that I hadn't lost the mission. Now this is totally alien to me, since in the past, when I would get blown up, the mission would be failed and I would have to start over. We ended up getting to the waypoint, the gunships spawned, we made our escape and the mission was a success.

What I think happened was that since I successfully completed step 2, but step 3 had yet to spawn, the mission was in a state of limbo where ejecting did not trigger the "fail" condition. I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this situation in the past, and if it might be a worth the correspondent mentioning this as a bug. (heck for all I know, this might be one of those "features" I hear about all the time)

So - anyone else ever have this happen?

I was hunting Dewbacks of all sorts yesterday. On one, and only one of the lairs, I couldn't chuck traps at the creature, nor could I harvest the corpse. It wasn't due to the resource shifting either because the very next lair of similar level dewbacks was fine. I could harvest, throw traps, and harvest the same spawn of meat. It was the only lair that this happened to during the entire night. I was a little bit frustrated. Anyone else experience this?

huh that's interesting. I've never had an entire lair do that. I have had individual corpses do the not able to harvest thing. Which drives me nuts but oh well. Something new to look forward to, yay. /sarcasm.

I think this was discussed a few weeks ago.

This is tied to "can't tame that!," "that trap only affects creatures!," "you cannot harvest that!," and "you cannot sample dna from that!."

I've had all four of these show up. They will show non-tamable / aggressive / stalker regardless of what they are supposed to be, and the attack / defense / damage will be 0.

I am wondering if Calc has reported this to the Devs, since it's pretty obvious they don't look at bug reports.

of course, if it's mistaking critters for NPC's, one day, sure,y, it's got to mistake an NPC for a critter...

I can see it now... You have harvested 657 units of Ewok Wooly Hide, this creature was small and annoying
