Thread: My take on old and new jedi...

By now it is obvious that the majority of players are going to respec to jedi once the NGE goes Live. This is fine, but all the old jedi are crying (understandably so) because well, they spent a damn long time working for something rare, that not everyone had!

They SHOULD be rewarded for that effort, and cool robes or crystals are not enough (imho). This comes from a totally neutral point of view since i did not grind jedi (much ).

What they have said is that when you respec, you will have equal level in whatever prof. you respec to. After playing 6 hours on TC as a jedi, i can see this is very fair and very straightforward in terms of respeccing.

Then, every class will be able to advance to lvl 90, through whatever fuzzy means they can come up with. Grinding xp, questing, etc...

My take on it is the following: These 10 levels should be the hard part, but also the new way to make your character different from other's. Pre-existing Jedi should get lvl 90 or near directly as a reward for their hard work.
FS Boxes should also translate into one or two of those levels as well, and maybe some XP or quest advancement already completed.

I also think 10 levels is not enough, it should be boosted to a max lvl of 100 for all classes, and have those 20 last level last very, very long indeed (like the old system), and allow you to specialise in certain areas of the force.

I always thought that making so many different jedi trees, basically to replace most existing jobs, was a bad idea. In the movies (especially recently), what do you see jedi do? Fight. So that's what they should be: a Fighting profession. Thus, specialisation should be in the type of saber you use, special Form techniques (they've finally added 7 Form Saber art into SWG, took them long enough)...

Anyways, lots of blabbering just to say that having Jedi be a hard-earned reward was good, but barring most players from getting it was bad. This new system should have both sides of the equation: Anyone can be a jedi, but it takes hard work to be one of the best...

Plus, bring back FRS... 'nuff said.

I agree *completely*. I want to be able to master Vaapad, or Form IV. I think it would be a great idea to choose your fight style, maybe even be able to master more than one. It would make fighting more unique, it would add diversity, and it would change your odds against other classes.
