On Friday, September 9th, 2005, all Structure Maintenance will be turned off indefinitely. When structure maintenance resumes, we will make an announcement 1 week in advance.

This relief includes all in-game player structures.

Thank youfor your support.

At first I thought this was a token of respect for the people who lost their homes in the hurricane. And that may be true, but I realized it also means somthing else. It's just one morething the DEVs are doing to show that the care about us. Who knows how long it will take for the SOE customers who were rendered homeless by the hurricane to get back to SWG. Maybe never.

But this way they will not have lost their in game homes along with ther rl ones.

I urge all players in this forum to concider this very clear and obvious show of consern for us before you begin to rant and swear and scream that the DEVs don't care over petty in game matters.

Thankyou.

It's a cool thing to do IMO. They do things like this cause its what they can do. Before anyone flames ask yourself what you are doing to help.

Very nice.

But what about Player Cities who charge tax on homes as a forum of income? Will the taxes still be taken on structures?

I think this is very cool. I remember in September of 2001, I lived in Manhattan and lost my broadband connection for a long time after 9/11. While there were certainly other concerns I had at the time, I remember logging back on eventually when Road Runner restored service and finding all my harvesters and a house gone. It only took about a week before a CSR had an in-game credit to cover the "losses" in my account.

And to think, I didn't even have to pay an in-game premium for disaster recovery insurance.

It's a nice thing to do. Good job, SOE.

What they are doing is actually very cool, but TH's announcement couldn't have been more poorly worded. One of the Devs earlier announced that they were not going to bill people in the affected areas, and would prevent decay/cost in game for them. The suspension of maitenance is part of that.

But as I said, TH should have worded it a LOT better than he did. The first reaction many that I was talking to to the announcement itself was to become offended by it.

Well said Ihareo. Your insight serves you well.

It is good to see that SOE is at least trying to do what it can in this situation.

/clap
