Here is my take on Jedi as things stand:
Risks/Drawbacks
1. Force
- Force Regeneration is slow. You have alot fo down time as a Jedi waiting for Force to regenerate.
- Without Force a Jedi character can do nothing but move around.
- After a death, Force regeration is even slower.
2. Bounty Hunters
- Xp loss.
- Negative XP.
- No content if you try to avoid visbility and the terminals. Practically every interesting, challenging and rewarding thing in the game generates visibility - Why not forget about visibility and just permanently put every Jedi on the terminals?
3. Skills
- Hardly any abilities are unique. Normal professions have access to the same things without the added Force implications.
- The skills that are unique are heavily taxing. They have serious draw backs like a severe snare, crippling Force regeneration, damage reduction or very long cool down timers.
4. Equipment
- Equipment cannot be enhanced (sliced/pupped)
- Armor is essential which means you must have either 0400 Enhancer or 4400 or more Defender. Takes away from template diversity - no skills should be required.
5. Content
- No unique content
Rewards
1. Lightsaber
- Unique weapon.
2. Versatality
- Jedi templates are suited to more varied situations than any normal template.
- Having a template with a broader array of skills makes you more potent in 1 vs 1 and general PvP.
This is how I see things and my opinion is only made worse by the fact that I get more use and less penalty out of using my free unlock character than I do my Jedi. I feel that what makes a profession fun and rewarding are its abilities and content. This is why I love my Master Bounty Hunter/Master Combat Medic template. I get unique and fun content in the shape of NPC or PC bounties and I also get the unique abilities that Combat Medic has to offer. To elaborate on this, I would rather have unique content, items and skills than power. The reason for this is because being powerful is pointless (to me) if there is nothing for me to do or enjoy because then its just boring. Also, Jedi power is nowhere near as potent in PvE as it is in PvP because of the level system, which Jedi do not get a boost in - we are exactly the same as everyone else on that front. I don't think it would be a major problem if Jedi were upped to level 82 or 83.
I am wondering how other people feel about how things are and have a question that I would like to see other peoples thoughts on:
Do you think the risks and drawbacks are proportionate to the rewards and Why?
