Me and a friend did some quick testing last night.
We took 10 shots with no aura and no valor, 10 shots with only valor, 10 shots with only aura and then 10 shots with both aura and valor. The Jedi taking the shots is master defender.
With no rifle skills this were the numbers:
no valor, no aura
3 misses, 1 shot blocked
7 hit
aura, no valor
8 misses, 1 shot blocked
2 hits
valor, no aura
5 misses, 4 shots blocked
5 hits
valor and aura
6 misses, 4 shots blocked
4 hits
And now we switched, the shooter is master rifles but still firing at a master defender:
no valor, no aura
5 misses, 4 shots blocked
5 hits
aura, no valor
4 misses, 1 shot blocked
6 hits
valor, no aura
5 misses, 4 shots blocked
5 hits
valor and aura
7 misses, 3 blocked
3 hits
So, I'll assume that using both does help with defence against a ranged opponent. Haven't tried this yet on a melee basis.
