Thread: keep the group xp, but limit the CL range of groups
Moreover, why would you prohibit certain people to group with others? This is a MMORPG. On a sidenote, a lot of power-grinding CL 80s already do the "no CL 30 in CL 80 groups" by themselves.
People don't use the terminals in Coronet, etc period anymore.
I remember taking countless crazed durni missions to level my Master Pistoleer (back when that was actually a viable profession, nowadays its BH, Jedi or bust as far as the "end game" goes). Happy days.
The primary problem is that everybody is used to grind on Dantooine since the Janta solo missions, so people still go there, driven by old habits. And if 90% of the veteran grinders are already grinding on Dantooine, that is where new players will also go since it is easier to find groups.
Every planet has picket-like critters that are on the mission terminals, people just are used to go to Dantooine.
"Making it extremely limited benefit" is about the same as "prohibiting", by the way, and your title "limit CL range of groups" is suggesting a forced separation of low-level, mid-level and high-level groups.

I didn't say to prohibit it. I said make it "extremely limited benefit from grouping". I know they're getting reduced xp, and I have no problem with helping n00bs out (except they aggro everything on Dant, LOL), but SWGseems likea one-planet game sometimes. Coronet is a ghost town, Talus is a ghost planet, and so on.(1) I just would like the devs to give everyone a reason to explore the whole galaxy. (2)I swear, people just herd themselves onto Dant like a bunch of cattle (or bols). As long as the best game options are on one planet, everyone will go there all the time.
Solution: Make content more level specific on each planet. Spread the population out some.
The way it is: players go where the xp is best gained. So set up a game system that gives n00bs equivalent xp/difficulty in equally qualified groups. That way people will have a reason to migrate to places with less lag.
1. Isn't this what the POIs are for?
2. Why not go to Rori and hunt from there? Lvl 80 tortons, nudfhas, and vrobals all are good and don't group aggro. Not to mention the missions go really fast. Or as one person said, tatooine? Banthas and dewbacks are good to hunt as well. Noone says you have to go to the MO to hunt exclusively. When you get in a group, ask them if they would like to go somewhere else with a lot less lag? For Rori, the rebel outpost is a good staging post assuming you aren't a combatant Imp. Noobs need xp as well. When you do group them, explain to them to follow your lead and only shoot at what you do. Teach them how to hunt in a group, rather than shun them when they shoot without knowing.
There are more planets than Dantooine for groups to hunt on. Why they choose Dant to hunt out of is a mystery to me. Yes, i do go to other planets to hunt. Tat, Rori, Endor...I try to go to them all from time to time. Heck, I've even grinded on Dath for a while. Crazy? Yes. Worried about noobs riding by spamming 'LGF'? Not on Dath, nor on Rori. I do occasionally get the random noob looking for badges on Tat come by. We invite him and teach him how to group hunt the right way. And guess what? That's another friend made. I've done this with a few noobs now, and i can't get rid of them now. I know I can call on them for help and they will run to my side, same goes for me.
Help the Noob, don't berate them for their lack of knowledge or know-how.

I've got nothing against n00bs, being a career n00b myself.
So it's nothing personal. I'm strictly talking about game mechanics.
1.) As for POI's, they're mostly just yellow waypoints to glowiness for most people. There's no real content ina lotof them(other than theme parks). Though I like them, I don't just go out Sunday driving most times I am logged on. Kashyyk has improved this, though.
2.) I haven't berated anyone. It is not a criticism to say that people follow the path of least resistance. I am the same way. So Iam suggestingthat the devs could do something to make the path of least resistance different for different levels of players. On Shadowfire the path is on Dantooine, and I follow the same path everyone else does. My point is, it would be better for the devs to encourage a little more diversity on people's habits (like the way they encouraged grouping, sic). Your point on voluntarily going to different planets is good. I have tried. But heck, even the wild spawns wouldn't even sprout up on Corellia while I was there the other night, LOL.
My whole post is set as a construcitve criticism for the devs to offer more content and opportunities. The fact thatplayersperceive only certain areas as being good for grinding shows that more could bedone. For example, players start out on the aptly-named starter planets. XP would be good there up thru CL10 (better even than grouping with CL80's on Dant, with no increase in difficulty), Next, move up to Naboo and Rori for CL11-CL30. Then CL31-CL50 for Talus and Lok. You get my point, I'm sure. There can be POI's/Theme Parks on every planet that are geared toward every level. This would encourage casual exploration and something different to do. But I think planets as a wholeshould be more level-appropriate.
Pointless post.
Dave, i agree...to a point. As far as the POIs, you only have to get, say, maybe 15 or so to get glowie. No fun in that. Try finding the Greater Misty Falls for someone whose never been on Dath. Took me a month to find it. Took a friend of mine out there who was looking for it for 6 months. I know where most of the POIs are now due to my exploring the planet.
And for the leveling, i too agree on the progression of planets idea. It would be nice to have a place to go to grind as any lvl in the game, not just eisley for the noobs and dant for everyone else. And why do wild spawns? Everyone knows the level of wild spawns, especially on Corillea, isn't impressive to anyone. Do missions from a terminal from a player city. Get missions around your lvl to keep it interesting. Following the herd will only lead to one thing, a very similiar herd (hence all the BH/CM peeps out there). When squad leader and ranger revamp hits, guess where the herd will flock to? Not me. I will flock on to my next mastery. I'm at 16 and counting. Find someone post-CU with that many masteries. Will I go Jedi? Probably not. I don't see how killing countless pikets and bols can make you one with the force.
Just get a group and get away from the MO. There are so many other places to grind with a lot less of a pain due to lag and due to noobs.
