Thread: Has anyone tried one of these Hybrid Templates?

it may work.. But I thought I'd throw in that there's talk of no longer being able to use force powers without having a lightsaber equipped. (this has been talked about for a long time though, and has been in the .tre files for quite some time as well, so your guess is as good as mine when this goes in)
Yeah that rumor has been floating around for a while. I have heard several versions of the rumor. One that I heard was that you could use force powers as long as you did not have a regular professions weapon equipped. It would seem foolish to me that they require someone that is Master Powers / Master Enhancer / 4000 Healer and Novice Defender to be required to weild a saber to use Force Choke. (Of course with SOE, nothing would suprise me

I really like the second template. The fact that TK gives you innate armor and COB should take care of any defensive concerns. Combining that with the ranged attacks from Powers seems like it should balance the template out nicely. Not to mention the fact that you get a few neat tricks from Powers like choke and cloak to keep opponents on their toes.
I prefer the second template to the first because I think with COB or Aura running those absurdly high defense numbers might be wasted. I'm not exactly sure how the diminishing returnstheory is applied, but I have to imagine when you're talking about600-700 or 900-1000 defense there's not going to be a huge difference. Even if there is a difference, you end up duplicating an awful lot of skills between TKM and Mdef(Innate armor and COB/Aura) which are the main strengths of both professions. I think you will have more success using Powers to augment the already formidable defenses of TKM, as opposed to using Mdef to try to add a small boost to your defenses.
In either case, I'm a huge fan of some of these creative hybrid templates so it's good to see more people trying them out. Let us know how it turns out. And above all, regardless of what anyone tells you, go with whichever seems to be the most fun to you.
Yeah I would agree that the second template would probably be more fun than the first. I do not think that Aura and COB stack anyway.
If anyone in beta gets bored and could test both of these out, it sure would be appreciated
A friend of mine is in beta but will be out of town until Saturday.
Best Jedi hybrid..
novice defender, novice TK, novice Doctor, novice Swordsman. You're just as good as a knight too
jk...
pre-cu I was going to go with master powers, master fencer, and I could squeeze some TK into that with novice medic (for teh stims
) for my alt, but now I don't feel like making my alt a Jedi, and I think I may turn my main into a hybrid..
Im thinking master rifleman, master enhancer (hehe) powers 0400 (teehe)
Cloak, sniper shot, they run in figuring you're just covered, and suddenly you stasis them and run back to finish them with another sniper shot
Hi there. I've beenthat second template for a good while now andI can tell you that it is a lot of fun, choke+lighting is great. Couple that with your TK moves and you can do pretty good damage. In a group, you can play the support role (area intim/stun/lightning/kd) or you can tank with the usual TK CoB. But you will still have to rely mostly on your TK moves and use your powers as a secondary attack. You just have to get used to your 3k force pool and learn how to manage it effectively. I never got channel, not even while grinding... just to get used on having a low force pool. Guess that payed off as I rarely get low on force these days.
I also did this template for RP reasons, as I am part of a TK guild and just really like teras kasi a lot. If you have that mindset... to have fun and not to "win", I'm sure that you'll have a blast with this template.
Hope that helps, goodluck bud.
