Thread: Legal Speak and Pearl Drops
Tiggs wrote:The "rare" pearls are simply ones which dropped from very high level creatures. What changed was that combat upgrade altered the levels of creatures. So where a pearl might before have been considered "premium" because it dropped from a level 287 creature, now it isn't considered premium because the creature dropping the pearl isn't level 287 any more. The possible stats that a pearl can give you are the same, regardless of the pearl quality. The only advantage a "premium" pearl gives you is a better chance of getting higher stats. "Fixing pearls" would be a matter of changing the level ranges for different quality pearls. This would be a retroactive change which would suddenly change all the pearls in the game to be high-level pearls, increasing the power of Jedi globally and almost instantly - Unless we simultaneously lowered the advantage of premium pearls so that they don't give as much an increase to the odds of getting higher stats as they do now.We would rather keep the premium pearls as they are - highly desirable and much better (in terms of the odds of getting higher stats) than normal pearls, but not drop them as casually as they dropped in the past. These should be rare, elite quest rewards and very high-end, elite-monster drops - not things that players "farm" from creatures that are no match for the player.
Tiggs with all due respect this looks like "legal-speak". You have explained the situation but offer no way to resolve the issue and have left the reader in a position no different than he/she was before reading the text. At this point I can only say that the Development Team has 'bungled' this issue. Whereas a yes or no answer would have sufficed.
Yes will allow Premium Pearls . . .
No Premium Pearls will no longer . . .
The constantly postponing the resolution to this is creating more confusion in the player base.

What she said is: "No more dropping off of krayts cuz they're easy to kill, but we're making incredibly hard quests/mobs that you can get them from!".
Hope that helps.
Which begs the question, how hard it is to spawn a couple lvl 200's every now and again?
The problem is of their own making. Pre CU, mobs didn't have their attack damage tied to their CL so they could be programmed to attack however hard the devs decided. Now, it's all linked. So a pre CU elder would probably attack for about 20,000 in a post CU fight; not much fun if you're attacking her ![]()
This would obviously restrict all high end content to 2 groups of players; MDEF with their avoid incap, or small groups of ranged players with root/snare attacks so they never get hit. I for one wouldn;t like to dedicate my entire template to one section of the game, looting premiums.
However, most other mobs in the game are easily soloable by any player with any medic skills, so turning everyone into premium looters obviously wouldn;t work either. Therefore, the only solution they have left is to severely restrict the type of mobs that drops premiums to mobs like NK, Axkvar Minh, etc. Hard to get to, hard to fight, impossible to farm.
I don't like how all this is ending up, but compared with the alternatives I understand why it's the only way forward.
