Thread: Question About Character Transfers HELP! :)

Talking to ANYONE in SOE is a futile poke in the eye....MY EYE.....
I tried in game Tickets, and Live Chat. And both sources point to the other saying they cannot answer.
Anyways, I unlocked 2 days after Publish 9. So I had the joy of waiting until 10 to "get" my Jedi whuch was my Main of course.
I created an Alt. My first question is, can I delete the alt without any impact to my Jedi?
My second question is since I am entitled to 2 slots, could I then transfer over a non FS character from another server to become my "alt"?
I think it is a relatively straight forward couple of questions, but SOE is full of _______. ((You may fill the blank as you feel appropriate))

Yes. If you are a post-pub 9 unlock and your main became your Jedi, you can re-roll your alt as much as you want without causing any harm to your Jedi main. You can also delete your alt and have a non-FS toon transfered into its position.

Excellent news. Now, please forgive me, but have you seen this done successfully? Or is it a SOE promise? lol

You can delete the alt and create a new one as much as you want. I am not sure if you can transfer the alt to a different server b/c it is part of your FS account, besides there is no point in doing that. I can not think of any benefit in paying SOE to transfer my Jedi's Alt character to a different server.

Well, I am wanting to delete the Alt, as he is a crafter and I decided I wanted a Combat Profession. And I have a Character I love on another server than I have already established most of his Combat Skills (BH Inv 4) to be precise AND has another respec available. It is WELL worth it to me to spend the 30 bucks to move him and not regrind all that BH Inv..
So now that we have agreement I can delete the alt without ramification, can I indeed transfer my other Character to be the "new" alt?

Doh I miss read your question about the alt. I am pretty sure that will be a no. You want to move a completed character from a different server to your current server to be your Jedi's alt. The reason: SOE wants you to grind that slot out baby!

Well, to tell you the truth I can not back up my statement. In fact that is the first time I heard of someone wanting to do this, it is a good idea! But how will you tell SOE that? When you try to move the character over to your server, they will say you must delete your character before we can move this one over. Unless you can call them directly ( that is what I would do) and tell them your intentions, because this isn't your average character transfer. Besides, I have heard nothing but bad news with those character transfers, so I would make sure you get someone on the line that is very competent and understands your intentions completely. My fear: they move your alt and delete your jedi. So unless they know what they are doing and can insure the safety of your jedi, I would just re roll that alt.

LOLSeriously, I fully agree, if I do this I will have proof saved of what was said so whatever happnes could be undone. I will only do it when I feel comfortable of it.
As for Character Transfers, I understand that there are some tricky situations, but to my understanding it usually involved seperate accounts transfering. Heck if I know for sure though.

Just an Update:
The plot thickened. 2 CSR's said no, 1 said Yes, and Tiggs personally said I could do it. So I tried. And no, you cannot. It has to see a totally empty server for you to goto. I.E. even though you have one slot available, your Jedi confuses the system so it errors out saying you cannot have more than one character on a server.
That being said, it comes down to SOE not wanting to help anyone. And no one having a true clue as to what happens in the game. An argument can be made as tot he two who said it could not be done....but both told me I could not delete Daviot and have it not hurt my jedi.....which was incorrect too.
My summary is, it could be done if they woudl handle it "manuallly" or with that magical "override" they have when you move certain things you possibly couldn;t before.
All in all, I am just disappointed in SOE's customer support. Tiggs is Community relations, or whatever, so I am not as miffed at her as I am the CSR's. As for the wants of moving the character, it was a whim and not that huge a deal.>
Anyways, thanks fo rthe discussion that you helped with, whose who did....and if anyone ever decided they wanted to try something like this, I hope my experience will save you a tad of headache.

Several months ago, I rerolled Flappy several times without affecting my jedi. I don't know if Sony did anything recently in order to screw with things unnecessarily (this is SOE we're talking about after all), but rerolling your alt should not affect your jedi.
And about the importing of a non-FS character. It makes sense that you would be able to,because if you delete your alt,you would currently have an OPEN character slot on the server with your jedi. Then again, the ways of the common sense are still unknown to Sony.
P.S. Surefire way to tell whether or not things will go your way when dealing with Sony. Flip a coin. Heads, Sony wins. Tails, you lose.
