Thread: In the MOVIES...
In the MOVIES Jedi could use the force to accomplish any task.
In the MOVIES Jedi were nigh-invincible.
In the MOVIES Jedi were revered, respected, admired and envied.
But in the MOVIES, Jedi were rare.
So what's the point of this thread?
Game != Movie.
In the GAME Jedi are nothing more than Swordsman with light-up weapons. And occasionally they get wrecked by a Bounty Hunter.
So don't complain that you're gimped, that the devs hate you, that you'll never be the Jedi Obi-Wan was, that your Post-CU Saber can't cut butter, or that you don't want to fight Bounty Hunters.
If the game was more like the movie, chances are you wouldn't even know what a lightsaber was. Would that make the game a better place? Yeah, it would. We would have dedicated crafters, proper-looking factional armies (Riflemen and Carbineers in armor, backed up by medics and support classes), and most importantly, we would have a unified player-base, and not a pack of grind happy saber jockeys that are too afraid to go near civilization for fear that their precious avatars would be shot at.
Makes me sad for the Developers that they have such little talent that they can't seem to focus on anything except a profession that not only sucks, but is a terrible, TERRIBLE time-consuming grind.
Hrm. Ever think about that for a second?
The Village. Doesn't it seem peculiar that the village has "Phases" that take weeks at a time to change, no matter if you've completed it or not? And god forbid you miss a phase, then you have to wait well over a month for another crack at it. And then, when you finally unlock a skill box, you have to grind night and day, forsaking all but 8 of your friends so you can gather up enough experience to finish a line of a force tree. One down, 6 to go. oh, but wait! One of these lines takes THIRTY (30) times the normal amount of exp to unlock, maybe less if you've saved up your combat exp.
So, you spend maybe 2 months in the village, then you proceed to grind out 30 Professions (Actually, more than that. Each profession takes 4 lines, you need 6).
Finally, you get to become a Jedi. Woah, slow down there, Sparky. You're just an initiate with a terrible saber. You better get to grinding. Huh? NPCs, you say? Looks like the empire's found you. And here comes the bounty hunter.
You die, He is 50K richer now. And what's more, the enitre day you spent grinding today died along with your pixels. better luck tomorrow.
This goes on for another 20 Million Exp while you try to max out your template. The whole time getting annihilated by Bounty Hunters, Who remove a good chunk of your exp every time they thrash you. That only lengthens the amount of time you're gonna be working on this terribly boring profession.
Fast forward 5 months. You're a fully Templated Jedi. You have a saber loaded with Pearls. You don't fear Bounty Hunters anymore, they can't take anything from you.
Time for some fun!
Hey, let's... Uh. Hey, we could... Er.
OH! How about we...
Hey, just what CAN you do as a jedi that you can't as a normal (and more powerful, go figure) Profession?
N-O-T-H-I-N-G.
So way to go. The "Only thing you havn't done in game yet" just cost you almost a year and around $120 of your hard-earned cash, so you could be a profession that can do everything else normal professions can do, excluding wear specialized armor and switch weapon damage types depending upon the situation.
Jedi is a scam, and you fell for it hook, line and sinker.
I figured I'd bring a little sarcasm in to get the real flamers to start up...
Wow.. you're actually right. You are ACTUALLY right. Forgive me if I seem sarcastic, but it's true.
We were scammed by SOE. Those absolute morons...

There is no point to becoming a jedi...or even playing this game anymore. But somebody save me, I don't want to give up cause of the time I put in to unlock. Guess we're stuck here...
I don't blame you not wanting to give up on all the hard work you've done, but that's what they're going for.
They figure that by the time you figure out just what you've been doing, it's too late. You might wanna stop, but that would make the months you've spent useless.
And just in case you DO have the willpoer to quit, here comes an expansion, focused toward Jedi (And hints of a possible FRS). Not just that, but even the small minority who have no Jedi are going to be lured into this expansion with the hundreds of crappy Star Wars Gimmicks they're throwing into this game.
GUYS! HK-47! GUYS!! DASH RENDAR'S SHIP! GUYSS!!!! AND UNDERGROUND BUNKER HOUSE REWARD!
Every time i see a Jedi in game, I shake my head in shame. They're lost now.
i think all these peeps who want a non-jedi server, just didnt put in the time to get one
ive been playing this game for 2 years, and ive always wanted a jedi, which im sure 90% who play this game felt the same

Great post, hope more read it with objectivity.Another great scam was the EQ2 graft that borked this game but thats another story.
Thank you.
When I first posted this I expected it to be flamed and trolled quite a bit, it's refreshing to see people who know what I'm talking about.
My character is a jedi, and you are on the mark completely.
I miss being a pre-cu BH and I miss being a pre-CU TKM/Doc. This current system sucks and though Jedi is fun I would give it up in a heart beat to play the game I used to enjoy. Pre Combat Downgrade ![]()
The worst part of the CU is the dependency on healing. Jedi know it, too.
Ask any Jedi, or even any PvPer, if they have healing. The answer is Yes. If you don't heal, you die, which is a major problem in this game.
