I have been playing SWG for over 1.5 years. I currently have 3 toons (not sure for how long though) that I pay for. My main toon is a crafter, then I created a toon for combat, then a few months back I created a toon because I wanted more lots, and I also wanted to have 1 melee toon / 1 ranged toon.
My main combat toon is tkm/master swords / 4000 doc, and also has completed the 'luck' tree. I just trained in the luck tree 2 weeks ago actually. I have had this toon for almost a year now, so that should show you the speed at which I'm grinding fs xp. Becoming Jedi has never been a big rush for me. It's never even been the complete focus of my character, just something that I've been working on 'in the background' if you will.
I have always stated and believed that becoming Jedi should be even HARDER than has been. I cannot stand the Jedi overpopulation, it's horrible.
When I started playing 1.5 years ago, I remember what Jedi were like. They were rare, and they were.... RESPECTED. I remember as a noob, I pointed / laughed at a Jedi that got killed, I got TONS of tells from people around me, telling me off, saying that's no way to treat a Jedi. There was an inherent respect among the player base for them.
Those days are definately gone. Jedi have lost all respect they once commanded, because there are so many of them, and because so many of them are 'noob' jedi who do not understand the role of the Jedi. They would rather run around theed / mos eisley waving around their sabers trying to impress each other.
I am NOT against people becoming Jedi, as I said, I was slowly working toward it myself. I was looking forward to eventually becoming Jedi, because it would be a great reward / payoff for all my work.
And now this 'upgrade'
Now, I am forced to choose. Choose Jedi now, or never become one. Ever. What am I going to do? I'm going to respec to Jedi. I'm going to be one of the 'noob' Jedi, although reluctantly. I was never in a rush to be Jedi, and I havent done the work to become one, yet on nov 15th, I'll be wearing a padawan robe. I will suddenly become part of the Jedi population problem that I hate so much, because SOE is forcing my hand. I'm not going to throw away all the fs xp that I have EARNED over my career here, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either. If I didn't become a Jedi for another year, that would've been fine with me. But I refuse to throw away the work I've put into it so far.
So please, do not get mad when you see my alt, or many other's people's alts running around in padawan robes, the anger is better directed toward the devs / SOE / LA, whoever.
I can only say that I will try to bring some honor and respect back to a class that once commanded it.

Anyone that was working towards Jedi, in my mind, deserves to be a jedi.. even if they are forced into respecing into it. i know people have their own pace. we're all getting screwed into this system, so there isn't much choice. Welcome to the many, enjoy your stay, just remember jedi isn't what it once was, and it might never be again.
