Thread: Force Armor+Force Aura?
Aura is defense, Armor is mitigation.
They miss more and it drives down their damage towards their minimum With Aura. Armor mitigates damage once you've been hit.
Sabrpaw wrote:Anyone tell me if Force Armor and Force Aura stack? Reason why i want to know is, im trying to figure out the template i want my jedi to be, and the utility of going Master Enhance appeals to me more than going Master Defender. The one thing that DOES appeal to me however, is the Force Aura ability in the Force Defense Tree in Force Defense. I keep getting mixed responses from the Jedi on my server. So, does anyone know if these 2 abilities stack? If they do stack, how close to the armor cap do they put you, and with both of these abilities stacking, would you miss the defensive mods much, from going full master defense?I was thinking of MLS/MENH with 0040 defense and 4000 healing. If the the 2 abilities stack then my defense should be good, and ill have the utility of the Enhance line.PS. What are the most important qualities to look for in resources when making a Lightsaber? Thanks in advance all.Sabrpaw-Sunrunner
You cant go MLS / MEnh / Def 0040 / 4000 Heal - not enough skill points.
Aside from that, Improved Force Armor gives +40 to Jedi Innate Armor, Improved Force Aura gives +500 to melee, ranged and Force defense and both abilities can be active at the same time.
The Aura will help you get hit less often and lower the possible damage of the hits, the Armor will mitigate the hits you actually take.
Yes they do stack, very nicely I must add.
Grab yourself a PSG, stack it with force armour and innate armour, and you have a very nice combo.
The Profession calc says i can go MLS/MENH 0040 Def and 4000 Healing.
Thanks guys, so i wouldnt be missing out on much from MDef if used those 2 abilities then?
Also, if i can get an answer to my lightsaber question id love you all for a very long time ![]()

Only if you don't need 24 skill points for FS skills.
Well if either of those 2 abilities are anything like Improved Center of Being(i am MTK/MS-4000 Doc atm), then they should reduce the dmg taken from ALL forms of attack except force powers. I dueled a BH lastnight, he was hitting me with his carbine for 500+ dmg before i used CoB. After i used CoB his dmg went down to 256ish.
How is mitigation to force dmg type handled anyway? Do you HAVE to be a Jedi to have the ability to reduce the dmg from Force Lightening or Force Choke? Or does armor that the "Normal" Professions wear help protect against Force Powers?
Also, i think the Prof. Calc. From Bloodfin.org may be wrong or something. Its showing that with the 4 needed trees in FS, i can still be double master and have 2 full trees.

While I do not disagree with you I do question if this is truely working in the way it's belived to. I've never seen any direct benefit from using Aura in anything other then melee. Ranged attacks fall back on Valor.Has anyone done any serious testing to reflect if Aura is applying to ranged attacks? I would like to see results of 100 attacks agasint a payer with and without aura active. If players are looking at the desription of the skill to base their views they should know that it's a poor method to determine the value and use of a skill. Example, Valor does NOT decrease nor reduce damage capability.
You dont even need 100 tests - you can see the secondary effect of Aura (damage reduction due to a better defense / accuracy ratio) in the combat spam. If you get hit by an Adv. Laser Rifle with Aura off the possible damage (before armor) is higher than if you had Aura on. This is because the damage output is moved closer to the min damage of the weapon due to high defenses.
I've got the same calculator, post-CU version, and after the double mastery/2 full trees, it says there are 16 points left.

On the Prof Calc, it shows i can have the required 4 FS Trees, Double Mastery with 2 full trees, but all points are spent.
It IS only 4 trees in FS that you need right? To get Jedi Initiate?
Sabrpaw-Sunrunner
I have both and they are a great asset to each other.
Example. Rifleman hits you for 800 points with no def. Turn on force armor and now he hits you for 450. Add improved arua and hi hits you for 350. This is all from memory so #s not exact but in the ball park. add onto that he will miss more do to aura and you see the benefits.
In melee (jedi vs Jedi) Aurua Pwns. The main reason a defender will beat a non defender jedi such as a master healer(if sabers are equal) is the amount of times the healer will miss the defender. I easily go toe to toe with Def templates and I only have the 0040 line in def. I hit them just as hard and just as much as they hit me. Armor break evens things up quite nicely.
On the flip side if you are a m enhance and have a mdef buddy that is whoopin you try taking some corelean ale. Youll see a much bigger improvement. I never lose due to being out damaged. Its always that critical miss of a power hit or the two misses in a row that got me on the defensive. This is why the dabbler temp with improved armor and improved arua has been so popluar. Same innate armor for less sp. Freeing you up to pick up other useful stuff(adv heals, channel)
