Not really, here's my temp:

MLS, Enh 24x2, Defender xx4x, healer 2xxx, Powers x4xx

And more often than not I'm teh' tank.. Force cost is about 8% of the damage you take in. (1000 points of damage costs 80 force, a 100 dmg attack only cost 8...) I can spin an 82 bol lair, 80 pickets, (81-82 pickets we call a nice chunk over and I spin those, then go spin the lair) but I'm also using aura, and defense foods. And if you learn to micro-manage your channeling, you can even outlast mdefs.. FA2 with Aura with the proper prep and know-how, you are the strongest temp in the game. (minus avoid incap, however as said you can learn to out-last their force easy) IF you are not getting any more defender other than xx4x, I would reccomend getting aura to compliment it, aura alone as your only def I havn't heard very good things from... Learn to use stims for every third heal or so, and carry around those waffers for the damage mitigation when things get hairy.

Of course, all this comes from using FA AND Aura.. FA by itself without aura, will cost you more force and more damage. By just having aura you will only have like 30 innate armor as the aura line grants no innate.. FA2 with novice def gives you the same innate as a Mdef, then with improved aura, and the proper food setup you will have the same if not better melee/ranged def than a mdef has. The only trick is learning to channel often, but not too often, and find substitues. (like I said stims and foods)

Aura...FA2 kills your force and mind. Just get innate armor from the defender tree along with aura.

I would go with aura, just because it is pretty low force cost and will almost halve the amount of damage you will take. Not to mention that you will also get some added innate armor I believe.

Not only will you take less damage. You will be hit less often with Aura.
