Thread: little advice for a non jedi in PVP...

appologies for bringing a slightly off topic discussion to this board, but as i plan to use this template (which ever i settle with) in PVP where i mostly fight jedi where better to come for advice than to the lions den itself!


i've been M.rifles since the week i started playing this game, and love CM44x4 for the heals, DOTs and thyroid rupture. other than that (and 4pts in FS) i have a few skillpts spare to spend and can't decide which would be most effective in PVP either solo or grouped Vs jedi.


M.Rifles, M.CM, pistols xx33 + FS speed


+15 sec paralyse

+high chance of DOTs sticking

+30 secroot (perfect for setting up a good sniper shot attack from range)

+ intimidate (replace need for KD to get a bonus 20% over the oppponent - just for my defences rather than attacking)

+ Battle armor certified (nice if i ever do go PVE or for those nasty wookie bowcasters)


- can only spam between headshot & startle for x1.8 and x1.5 dam multiple (perahps +150 damage per shot less)

- no KD


M.Rifles, M.CM carbines x33x + FS speed



+15 sec paralyse

+high chance of DOTs sticking

+KD shot (combine with paralyse and sniper shot for an occasional huge damage shot)

+ Battle armor certified (nice if i ever do go PVEor for those nasty wookie bowcasters)

+can spam between headshot &leg for x1.8 and x1.9 dam multiple


- no root (have to rely on paralyse instead)

- only cirtified for Recon armor (only an issue Vs the few melee guys and wookies with bowcasters)

- 5 sec paralyse (have to rely on root instead)

- no KD

- lack of battle armor balanced by use of thyroid and electro drain for PVE

So your basically asking us jedi to tell you how best to kill us? Umm am I the only one seeing something wrong with that


Maybe try the BH Forums, they seem to know the in's and out's

#1 or #2. It's a tossup between the two. I sort of like #2 more though, but I'm biased.

as when i fight in PVP its alongside an almost completelyjedi filled groupthen i guess i'm also asking how best to keep you alive too....

You'll want at least Charge Shot in Carbineer.


This one time, I was PvPing in the Bestine Starport. I was just inside, but not in the main room with the terminals (that little front area.) The Rebels were rushing the starport from the landing site and the Imperials were mostly outside. So about half of us went into the main room. I just turned the corner from that little atrium area in the front to the terminal room when I start getting stated like nuts. Choke, Intimidate, Dizzy, getting Saber Thrown, all kinds of glowy white beams shot at me and such. I'm healing like crazy and somehow manage to tank it all, but I figured out a little trick. I faced into the atrium area and charge-shotted. Although I was Force rooted, the Charge Shot moved me 5m into the atrium, thus breaking LOS. They were too busy fighting in the main room to come to where I was, which allowed me to recover and go back to fighting.


So yeah, buy charge shot.

just for comparison:


a TKM/PIke/doc would get hit for 420 pts damage by a 650-750 +200 ele dam saber when armorbroke wearing uber energy layered, AB slicedbattle armor& COB running.


a M.Rifle/M.CM/Carb would get hit for 429 ptsdamage by the same saber in uber recon AB sliced armor. - and thats with no COB or Deulist or food.

m.swordsman/4-0-0-4 doc/2-1-0-0 tk/0-3-0-4 fencer and get 75% armor break slices and a dam/crit sliced blade of nyenwhatever or junti mace.
