Thread: What Gives DPS?

I just read a post of someone having a saber with 645 dmg and 655 DPS. I am curious what gives DPS. I remember discussions on this, but I just don't remember.



I have a saber with Bane's Heartthat is 680 dmg with 495 DPS.

speed and dmg give dps nothing else

DPS is simply a formula of max damage + elemental damagedivided by the speed. If they had approximately 1 modified speed, or there abouts, they could get a higher modified dps than the max damage.

dps (damage per second) is a very rough estimation of a weapons damage dealing capabilities


it is calculated as


((max dam + min dam ) / 2 + elemental) / speed

Yes its the damage and the speed that gives the DPS, but the DPS is fairly useless but it does count to how fast you are and how much dmg you have so in a sense the DPS is important..

Really? I always figured it was just the max. Oh well I never really pay attention to DPS, since it's just a summery of the rest of the stats, I'd rather just look at the other stats.

They would affect your modified speed (if your refering to speed tapes) and therefore modify your modified dps.

yes but if you are MLS it wont help much and atm they broke anyway

They will. Apparently there is a problem with modified speed not being the rate at which you swing at, there was some testing done, and something like this was proven. I don't know the details, but I'm sure you can find it in the jedi issues thread.


Basically you won't see any differance now. When this problem is fixed you will.

for me they give about 1dps per point as MLS and high dmg saber


but as said before they are broke so they only show atm but still we hope they fix it somethime soon

speed/dmg gives dps..to really increase your dps get speed tapes..but imo..its better to have accuracy tapes....i like not missing much..lol..vs. hitting faster....
