I was talking to a good friend and he said he had a pearl to sell - I told him I'd look at it and possibly buy - unless it was a Premium, then he could get major cash for it... so I viewed it....and almost shat myself - sure enough was a Premium... so I asked kindly and he said he'd let me choose the price basically - all I had available was 2 mill so I tipped him and tuned it (he said he'd have given it free if he wasn't hard up for cash).. so here's what you're all clamoring about...

74max/74min -0.29 speed -8 FC

Now this wasn't uber...not much better than my other pearls, the -8 FC is good an any damage over 70 or 80 I'll generally consider 'ok'.. bumped my saber down to 17 FC and up to 420 dps with the speed...

/opinionon

Honestly - I have two premium pearls in my saber and they're 96/-6 and 87/-9 - with or without them it's all the same... it's still up to your skill with the saber... I myself am going Master Sabers cause I've always wanted to... (1344 right now) I'm not sayin that prem and flawless pearls shouldn't be reintroduced but I'm thinking that anyone who uses the excuse 'Jedi aren't uber cause of pearl drops'... well I don't think it's legit

Perfect speed, almost perfect force cost, sounds like a pearl most wouldn't complain about. It's way better than any of the hundreds of goods I have tuned.

FYI, I have a 663 max damage/18 FCsaber (crafted at novice sabers), with 3 premium crystals, 1 premium pearl.

  • All tuned post CU.

  • 6 of 7 premiums tuned with damage over 100.

  • 5 of 7 tuned with damage at, or above 100, and also have a speed of -0.20 or better, and have -7 FC or better.

Still, I've tried tuning several "goods", and none have tuned anywhere near my premiums. Experience is the best teacher, and it says premiums > goods.

Your sample size is not large enough to make such an inference.

That's not that bad of a tune, it's almost maxed out on two stats, and is better than 99% of the 100 or sopearsl/crystals I've tuned post-CU.

I think people are not expecting to tune 4 perfect sets of stats on their first four pearl tunes, as some people have stated. They'd just like to have the chance to have that higher tune chance. If it takes 200 premium tunes then so be it.

I myself am not too worried about being perfect, my goal is to have 4 tunes over 100 with good speed.

I've been a Jedi for a year now, 22 professions, 2 FS branches and 6 months pre-CU grind to full template. I could kick myself for not hunting Krayts now. Instead i concentrated on the grind and only finished a couple of weeks before the CU, so didn't have much time. I did tune tons of crystals before the CU and am still using a couple that have not bad damage, but one has zero speed. ouch.

-I tuned a premium crystal awhile back and it tuned to 33dmg -.3 speed and -5fc. So premiums can still suck

Heh well I only mentioned that one...I've tuned my fair share of pearls and crystals for a long while now...been a Jedi for over 6 months myself after one holo and the rest village -I've come to learn in this game that it's not your equipment (unless we're talkin pre-CU Dot supremacy days ) ... it's the ability set and your personal sense of strategy.. with 50/50 -5 pearls I can do as well as with my good stuff... That's what I was talkin about - there are some Jedi I've met who are really down in the dumps/about to quit cause they are convinced they're nothin without good stuff.. what I forgot to mention above is that I also got a good crystal and a quality at the same time today - all similar tunes save the speed, and the FC's on the crystals were -7's

Sorry dude, but nothing beats prems/flaws for tunes. If it did then there would have been no point in taking prems/flaws out of the game in the first place. Luck was not on ur side that day. I took 4 prems tuned em in one shot got 2 x 111 -9, 119 -9 and 91 91 -9. They tune exceptionally well and compare nowhere to qualities or goods. My advice to anyone who doesnt have a saber higher than 600 dam with less than 15 fc, is buy a bunch of prems or flaws and start tunning, because chances are prems/flaws might not return ever again.

You make a good point, but all things being equal in terms of skill, the Jedi with the higher damage saber will win most of the time.

For example if your550* damage saber self, fought your 740 damage saber self, your 740 damage self will win most of the time. Don't get me wrong, skill is an important factor, but damage/speed is an extremely important factor too.

Regarding your tunes, speed is important, because it does effect your base speed, even if mod speed is not quite working yet. So a speed tune of 0.29 is much better than a tune of 0.06, especially when multiplied by 4.

* These damage numbers are used as an example.
