Thread: DPS vs Min/Max Damage. What to choose?
I got 2 pearls I cant decide whats best:
Pearl 1:
Min/Max Dmg: 119
Speed: -0.20
FC: -9
Pearl in saber (4th gen)- Mod DPS 643 Max DMG: 732
Pearl 2:
Min/Max: 107
Speed: -0.28
FC: -9
Pearl in Saber (4th gen)- Mod DPS: 653 Max DMG: 720
Based on these 2 stats, what should I go for?
I have heard lots lately that DPS does not work. I have heard more and more ppl say go for max damage. Before everyone said DPS, but that seems to have changed?

What's the FC on each? I'd say the 119. Max determines Elemental Damage as well as being the multiplier for specials. I'd take max damage with a saber over DPS.

FC is -9 on both, so thats irrelevant. I just wanted to know abotut DPS vs damage..
damage you can increase speed easily through buffs, but pearls are the only way to increase dmg.

Increasing damage will also modify your DPS. I would choose whatever gives me the most DPS.
But the damage on the pearl with 107 gives a max on 720 while with the other pearl a max on 732 i think. Also the pearl with 119 also increased the minimum damage.

In the saber the pearl with 107 dmg gives a Mod DPS on 653 - while the one with 119 dmg gives a DPS on 643 in the saber.

Even though people say DPS means nothing it is a reflection of damage and speed.
The obvious choice is the 107 Pearl of 653 DPS. Nice BTW.

DPS means nothing on its own....however...it is the result of speed and damage whichboth make an impact....but, given that our sabers still havn't been fixed yet, the speed bonus on your pearls make no difference and all.
people commonly say our sabers go by base speed not mod which is incorrect....in fact they go buy our modified speed, BUT the pearl/crystal speed bonusis not factored in.
however, when that's fixed....
12 damage vs almost a tenth of a second quicker attacks... speed...without question.

How do you know this? how do you even test that scenario... would you remove your pearls and see if you swing at the same rate? the wierd part is when you remove your pearls your base and modified both change.... I really don't get what your saying
if you take 4 pearls with low speed bonus and compare them with your regular high speed pearls, in the same saber, and time your attacks you will notice you are attacking with the same speed. if you regularly have 4 -.29 speed pearls you should see a huge difference...but it's not there. also...you will notice a speed increase as you move up the saber trees or by applying sea's
you just never get to where your mod speed says you should be
unless of course, you have crystals/pearls with -0.0 speed.

Ok, I can buy that. I can't believe I didn't think of that testing methog. So, what your saying is that speed tapes actually to help? (to bad I had +20 gen mel speed on my Marabi belt.../cries)
