Thread: The New SWG=FPS

I sense alot of anger in alot you! and i can understand, at first i felt a little betrayed but frankly i dont care for the CU much and was about on the way out anyway but these changes seem kinda cool for some.
I myself and alot of others dont really care for the turn based system one of the main reason i puchased the game soon after launch and kinda forgot about it and gave it to a friend that liked the MMORG's turn based. In fact what made me repurchase the game was the JTL expansion cause i was really into XvT and XWA but was very bummed out when i figured out it was kinda lame compared to those vintage classic's but by then i was already getting hooked on the other aspects of the game.
Now from what i understand it has always been a plan to have SWG be more of a FPS hybrid MMORPG. i remember the day this game was announced i did the register thing at some star wars galaxies site that was barley giving any info and lucas arts but what i remember what made me want the game was i remember about a year after the game was announced there was talk about having a static twitch combat system wich was unheard of back in the days when 6/10 peoplewhere on56k and had computers that would lag playing Half Life 1 in a lag fest, i couldnt imagine such large maps and worlds with a FPS.. this was the time 400 to 500 mghz cpu's was the good stuff lol.
So this makes me think this is a LA thing period! not an SOE thing.. mabey all that the Jedi Knight games battle front 1 and now 2 and where all just part of LA's test babies to make this huge massive MMORPG called SWG now that high speed internet is standard everyones loaded with ram and fast CPU's it seems now the early things i heard about SWG back in the first year of developement will come to light.. I feel that all those cool movies of SWG we have been watching the last year or so the cool looking tv add that made me say "wow i want to play that game not this crap" mabey this is it!!
Now how is combat going to work and whats the point of SWG when its a Hybrid of Battle front II to a point.. well Battle front is justamap everyone spawns in and fights in a FPS no char dev no RPG just fight fight fight now SWG is a MMORPG but i think the combat will avtually be close to battle front to a point.. i think we all need to forget about our spec shots and spam attacks and everything that pre CU and post CU was about..
As for the melee profs i think from what i gather theres still going to be melee but also a ranged meaning your player can do both and is not just running in the cat and mouse kite game....
I could be wrong but i think we should just hold off with all the anger and just see what happens. really what do we have to loose 99% at best could barley tolerate the CU and where just about ready to bail anyway.

I know this sounds really stupid but what is FPS, only being able to view the game as first person shooter??

FPS=First Person Shooter Ie Counter Strike and Counter Strike:Source are FPS games
seeing as how we will still have 3rd person viewing SWG will not be a FPS game

I would actually say its going to be a 3rd person shooter type like the jedi knight games.

I used the force to make the cancel-o-meter change to cancel.
I mean I do like games like Jedi Knight series, and Battlefront, but I enjoyed SWG as it was, just certain aspects needed a lot of help. If they had kept the FRS the way it was and kept jedi seperate from the GCW and actually had some nice stuff for the GCW, it would have been better.
I just wonder when they fully import all of the Battlefront assets, like drivable tanks and AT ST's...
