I am asking becuase I sick of having a low DPS saber since pearls dont drop worth anything. I so sick of it I am thinking of leaving the game after 802 days. Of course after all this time I want to see if maybe I can do some dmg with power against a BH, right now they laugh at my saber. Right on the BH boards they talk about how low dps due to pearls as they are is a god send for them. Any info will help becasue the DEVS dont seem to care that is for sure and there plan for Jedi pop control is about to claim another.Oh yeah and I know just leave, thanks for that bit any other idea beacuse I dont want to, but I am tired of SOE lack of fixingstuff.

I hate Gungans, I hate Ewoks and I hate Jawas....so why am I a Rebel you ask? It is my overriding hate of the MAN !!!

Pre CU Jedi and Day 2 Vet since the game didnt work on day one.

Depends upon what you mean by 'good trade.' I'm powers, and I really like it. However, I get pawned by MLS types in duels if I stand and fight. Course, I can always get away if I really want to, and that is fun in its own way. If you are talking about damage output, MLS is better -- but you are right about your dps making a big difference in that. I think with reasonable pearls/crystals (the kind you can get now if you tune enough of them) will still make your dps better with sabers than powers. Also, once you get to master powers, half your attacks aren't always usable because they are area. The lower level intimidate is a single target thing, but the improved one is an area attack. This is great if your group can handle the mass-aggro that comes from it (for grinding), but can mean quick death someplace like the deathwatch bunker (made that mistake the other day).

Actually I think if they ever get around to making states meaningful, Powers will be hugely boosted by that since we can do them all from a distance -- except blind I think ... why don't we have that one? Anyway, most of our attacks are state attacks ... consequently we are not getting nearly the bang out of them we are supposed to be -- except for lightning and a couple force whack-em-on-the-noogies things.

If by good trade you mean is it fun to play -- H**l yeah. I think so anyway. So if you want to 'trade up your dps' you should likely stay sabers and farm some crystals/pearls. Otherwise come on over to the choke & cloak crowd.

Hmm yeah if you are more into PvE I think you are better off with MLS even if your saber sucks.
For PvP against non Jedi and for the coolness factor I'd say go Powers.
I'd love to get a respec on TC to test powers out some day.

Powers(now) use less Force then the rest of the Jedi skills. If you get MFW you can do a vast amount of damage. as for defence you are almost left with nothing so have to back it up with MDef

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.
Anyone who says, "Trust Me" can not be trusted.
It is not what you are killing but what you are allowing to live.

Ok I don't want you to get the wrong impression of Powers from the above post.

Force powers do not use less force than sabers, they use quite a bit more force. Choke 160fc, Force KD 225fc, Force Throw 75fc, Improved Lightning 85fc, Breach 200fc, Cloak 150fc, Mind Blast 75fc, Force Hit 45fc, Force Intimidate 100fc, Force Weaken 200fc, Force Strike 75fc.

Action costs are also something to be aware of with Powers. Choke 20%, Mind Blast 10%, Force Throw 10%, Force KD 10%, Force Lightning 20%, Force hit 5%, Force Intimidate 10%, Force Weaken 10%, Force Strike 10%.

Also they are very slow. Choke 15 second cooldown, Improved Lightning 2sec execution 4sec cooldown, you get the idea.

This being said it is very important to consider having Chanel and Force Speed 2 in your template so that you can attack at a decent speed and recover force as needed.

In General your saber needs to be pretty bad to have a lower damage per force cost and damage per combat round than powers. But having a little sabers AND MPowers is very deadly versus non Jedi.

Powers VS most other Jedi looses as far as DPS goes. Most jedi will at the VERY least have the 0040 line of Defender, giving them force defense, along with force shield it seriously kills your damage rate.

That being said, Powers eats non Jedi for lunch. If you learn to use it, you can so some serious damage. Choke can hit for 350-550 damage per tick depending on the target ranged defense. The first tick doing double damage. Lightning can hit for 500-800 again depending on their ranged defense (both go through armor).

If you use Force spped, can can chain lightning attacks pretty quickly, if you lead with choke, and chain lightning, you can pretty much put any non jedi on the defensive. Wait for Choke to subside, then throw your KD, another choke (which will now do more damage since ranged defense is lowered due to the KD), and again chain the lightning, apply a weaken in there for max effect.

Non jedi with CM or DOC with High heal rates can be beaten using powers. It can take a little time though. You can definately put out enough damage to keep them healing, and hopefully drain their health or action. In the case of non MCM BHs, you can generaly out damage their heals.

There are downsides to powers though. PVE, many of your attacks are AOE, including your effect state attacks. Grinding up through powers is a PITA, as you will do crap damage until you get close to master, and without choke your DPS will not be better than a single line in sabers. It is very easy to draw agro when groups as well. Area lightning will outdamage most other players, and often draws agro.

IMO you need at least 3xxx in enhancer (for force speed2) for any powers template.
