Thread: Does new buff/debuff system work the following way...?

I know TH implied that if you have FR active and get hit w/ a snare, your speed drops to 1/2 your *base* speed, not your current speed, but he also said that buffs overwrite each other. Does this mean...

If a BH hits you with snare, you can break it with FR? That would be a nasty surprise. "Heheh, that Jedi is snar* What the? He/She suddenly started moving 2x as fast, not 1/2. Oh crap!"

No.

All movement speed buffs are removed (suspended, but who gives a **edit**)by the debuff and then the debuff is applied.

Correct, but if you take this a step further.. once snared your FR would be removed but question now would be what happens if you switch FR back on after being snared? Will it remove the snare? I couldn't figure that out from THs post.. but then again I'm pretty tired too

*edit: after more thinking I guess we won't be able to switch on FR as long as we're snared.. just a wild guess...

TH's latest posts directly contradicts what shadowbrak said in the doc forums : (ok he never said it directly, he was quoted by the doc corro)

There was a thread in the Corr forum questioning if debuffs would remove buffs. For example, would AB get removed by Thyroid Rupture. Here is the reply from Shadowbrak who is a Dev.

Debuffs will not remove their counterpart buffs; stacking adrenal boost with thyroid rupture will net -15 speed. At the end of the TR, AB will remain. Only movement effects are absolute and even then the buff is not removed, just negated for the duration.

Thank you very much for getting back to us on this so quickly. Can I quote you?

Yes

Yet now TH says that in effect the snare will indeed cancel the full benefit of FR, essentially removing it for the time the snare is active.

For example, a movement buff could make your character move at x2 speed. If your character gets snared, rather than moving at x1 speed you will now be moving at x1/2 speed (as though you didn't have a movement buff on at all.) When the snare wears off you will return to x2 speed.

That is exactly how it works. While snared, You can try to turn off and on FR or burst run all you want and all you'll get is wasted force.
