Thread: How To Retain CL80?
Keeping Lv80 throughout your grind isn't a real easy thing to do, and while it will maximise your xp gains per kill, it may actually slow you down in the end by keeping you focused on a single skill set in place of diversifying your skills. If you are bound and determined to keep Lv80 throughout your grind, you will need to have 2 elite (non-Hybrid) professions to start; ie. Rifleman/Carbiner. Along with your FS skills, this will leave you with 43 skill points, propably sitting in medic.
If you plan on having a Saberist, one way to go from here would be the following. This is by no means the only way, or even the best way, just one possible path...
Grind out your 1st 2 Jedi Novice boxes, propably Sabers & Healer and pay for those from your medic skills. Work your way up2HSabers to tier III, and then go to Sabers Tech and get the 1st box. At this point, you'll still have your double elite mastery and little or no worries about the BHs that have the misfortune of drawing your mission. Keep a macro set up that will re-equip your old gear& change you to a ranged toolbar if a BH does show up, and blow him away. You will need to rely on Ruby Bliel and stims for healing while wearing your armor, so keep that in mind.
From this point you'll need to break one of your masteries. Give up all the boxes from one column as you need the points and work your way to 0404Sabers. At this point, you still have one elite mastery, most of a second, and good saber skills for group PvE, but you are still VERY fragile as a Jedi. Your skills are limited, and your force pool is very small with a weak rate of regen. Keep close to at least one other Jedi that has the ability to channel. They can keep your force pool filled up for you. Also, you will still want to have a very low force cost saber. While grinding with a solid group, you don't need to kill the critters or even really hurt them, just break their armor and move on.
With saber Tech IV out of the way, you'll want to build the last saber you'll build for a very long time. If you know a player with a saber crafting suit, borrow it. get the best resources and tools you can lay your hands on, and take your time to do the job right. Build 2 or 3 sabers with differing experimentation. You'll want one built for force cost, one for damage, and one with a ballance btween the two.
With the 2 tier IV boxes under your belt, you have a load of choices available to you. You can actually surrender all of one of your elite masteries and still retain Lv80. This gives you 64 skill points you can play with as you need them. I would strongly suggest picking up the rest of the novice boxes, Double Bladed II, Synergy II, and Rejuvination III. These are the skills that will really allow you to effectivly grind, and will save you butt when a BH comes to call, but you will have surrendered your remaining elite mastery before you get there.
At this point you are a 150k Jedi. You have all the skills you need to deal with most situations, you can effectivly grind without a dedicated babysitter, and your only real fear should be a BH that knows his game. Add Celerity II to your bag of tricks, and you should be able to escape from them with few worries. From here, your path is all dependant on your final template. You have enough skill points left to master Defender before you need to worry about dropping any of your grinding skills, or you might choose to master Sabers, pick up cloak as a dabbeler... what ever you want to do.
