I don't agree with every one of your ideas...but I agree with two important concepts:

1) The game has enormous potential

2) The game is not yet finished

I consider the game far superior to the WOW or EQ2 in so many ways. It is always sad to me, though, to see nothing but constant rants on here about the game's shortcomings.

There are slow steps forward being made. I still have a little faith...and I still really enjoy the game.

So what is wrong with it? Well, mostly, it was never finished. SOE, paniced and now they've lost the "vision".

For example

1) Where are guild run capital ships?

2) Smugglers? This could be such a HUGE game within a game here if they ever actually implimented it.

3) Why are space zones so small?

4) Why can't you orbit planets? Why not even a scripted landing squence so we can watch our cool ships land at the starport? (I know transatmopheric flight is too technically challenging)

5) Who thought space needed to be cluttered with tie fighter debris every 5 feet? Make the zones 50 times bigger and lose the space trash. Space can be empty. This is not bad. We do have hyper drives.

6) Why not more ground game in space? Avatar was cool, but lose the instanced crap.

7) IMPORTANT - What happened to the idea that your gear would need to be replaced? SWG should include ALOT of fighting for resources. This is obviously implied by the game design. Where is the resource scarcity? Where is the PvP role in resource scarcity?

8) What about master rangers making LZ's to allow ships to temporarily land? (Can you say hunting groups?)

9) What ever happened to camps?

10) Where are theplayer controlledAT-ST's? AT-AT's? This is what commandos are supposed to kill!!!!

I could list dozens of these things, but you all know them. Its not like I am the only one who has thought these things.

The elephant in the room is that the developers have become paralyised trying to balance the professions instead of finishing the game.

We all know it and like a crazed mob, we all feel powerless to stop it.

I'll tell you a secret, when a game is really fun, its usually really unbalanced too. The cool part is that everyone is having so much fun, they don't care about the little unbalanced details.

LOL...Wrong kind of Ranger (heh), they mean rangers like in D&D. If that were the case, then rangers would have much better fighting stats and have an MRE skill. (always remember to chew the gum after you eat!)

my personal opinion is that the players advanced through the game faster than what the developers had planned.

A fair point in the first few months of release. We are 2 years into it bro, thats no longer a reasonable arguement. At the 2 year mark, they would have to have expect most people who have full combat templates. Maybe not as many Jedi, but thats their fault for caving to the perma-death crybabies.

The EverQuest II graphics has been heralded as the most innovative accomplishment to MMORPGs to date. A genre that was once asked to provide a great storyline with fun character advancement inside a robust world was not asked to provide graphics that would challenge today’s top PC games. However, times have changed, and SOE has proven that a top flight MMORPG can indeed have graphics that meet and exceed many newer FPS titles like Doom 3. They have done what was once though to be impossible, they introduced an that is graphically stunning and allows thousands of players to run around the world lag free while enjoying it. In the most current beta build, I spent time in a raid group of 18 characters as we battled a giant dragon in the zone known as the Commonlands. While Ladon lunched on 18 characters, the beauty of the myriad spells, combat arts, and the environment combined to provide an immersive experience that only the photorealism of EverQuest II’s graphics can currently provide on the market today.

This proves nothing. Unless they stopped, dropped, and rebuilt the game right at launch time, they are running SW:G's engine. Which was also heralded for it's Uber-ness and ability to get better as time goes by. Just because these developers have chosen not to do anything with it, means absolutely nothing.

They are both built on the same engine.
