Thread: Template for starting off a Jedi

Hey everyone,

I'm a veteran to this game since Feb 2004, and I am finally about to try one of the few professions I haven't yet... Jedi! Yes, only two more weeks, only problem is I'm worried about surviving the early part of the process. I'm currently a TKM / Pikeman 4440 / Doc 4004, and I'm having a terrible time deciding which of the three, and how much of them, to keep until I get at least a tree of something in Jedi. Yes, a tree of "something". I am truly that clueless.

I'd like to end up something like Master Lightsaber, Master Doctor (for the RP aspect... I think it'd be cool to be a Dark Jedi who could revive, since that's a pretty big part of Episode 3). Plus I don't think I'll have the patience for a full Jedi template.

I'm not worried about dropping tk or pikes or even doc, and having to regrind Master Doc later... but my concern is about survivability for now. Can I use Improved Center of Being with a lightsaber equipped? Can I Warcry and Intimidate with a lightsaber in hand? Which should I keep? Should I master doctor now, or stay as 4004 and keep more of my combat professions intact? Should I even try to master Lightsaber or just settle with 0404 and keep even more combat professions?

*bangs head on desk*

Thanks so much to anyone who's taken the timeto read this and offer some help!

keep tkm for the innate armor till you have some jedi defences. CoB can be used with a macro that /unequip-CoB-equip the saber.

Drop pikeman only when you are capped in jedi exp so you can stay as close as possible to lev80. Drop doc when you pick healer up.

as far as I remember CoB function only when unequipping LS, using CoB and reequip. Revive in btw works perfect with the right Cyberarm .Because you will hear many many many opinions I will say nothing about what template is the best or what not . In the end it will be still your decision so I would say just start and decide during the process. Only thing is if you want MDoc do it before you start working on any jedi skill maybe.

Thank you! I never thought of the /unequip saber CoB macro. I think I could make one of those just fine.

I think I will stay close to 80 with either pikeman or doctor. In any case, I will not have more than maybe 4 or 5 skill points open at any time after I hit padawan. I'm not picking up healer, I really want to be able to Revive

And about the innate armor, why can't a Jedi just wear a suit of RIS or something? Are they ... not certified I guess?

I had a revive cyberarm, but sold it once I foundoutI need JTL to attach it Besides I am looking forward to Advanced Bacta Jab and all the extra healing ability. I think it will help me stay alive against a BH even if I don't have something like Warcry or Intimidate to hinder their attack. Hopefully....

And how does someone without Jedi Defender skills stay alive? No innate armor ... and I don't see Jedi wearing armor come to think of it. Is the only other way to get defense from getting Enhancer skills?

I won't give you advice on what Jedi stuff to get, as that is a matter of taste.

But for survivabilty...looking at your template, that is an easy one. Two things stick out immediately.

-Do not worry about your saber's compatability with anything at this point. If you want to survive, the first thing you should do when you see a blue dot is ditch the saber. Until you get high in the LS trees and get a good saber, the only thing the saber will do is get you killed. You will want to fall back on your normal profs to defend yourself.

-That being said, it seems the obvious choice is to hang on to your Doc and TKM skills as long as you can. The defense and healing should keep you alive long enough to either win or to run.

Some of this will become more obvious to you...especially when you make your first few sabers and realise how sucky you are with it (and how sucky the saber is in and of itself).

Good luck!

Before you hit inniate regrind to master rifles and mcm, that will keep you alive andif attacked by a bh you can simply paralize them and run off after applying debuffs to them

I think I've just about decided (TKM, Master Doc, then gradually drop to 4004 doc until I get better attack skills, then dropping TK to 0440 and regrinding master doc). But just one more thing... why is TKM so important? Is there a disadvantage to wearing regular armor and being a pikeman?

Dude, you will totally be disappointed if you go for Jedi.

This isn't what the movies portray in case you havent watched a Jedi duel yet.

Please if you like to be strong, keep your current template.

Play a real Jedi game if you like what you see in the movies.

Stay in your current template is you like to be uber.

Macro CoB

/ui action toolbarSlot 00;

/centerOfBeeing;

/ui action toobbarSlot 00;

put the saber you are using on your toolbar position 00(top left). If this is not working or you have problems with lag add a /pause 1 comand beetwen the lines1-2 and 2-3

/ui action toolbarSlot 00;

/pause 1;

/centerOfBeeing;

/pause 1;

/ui action toobbarSlot 00;

Be aware that hitting the mob with your hands will give you unarmed exp stealing it from the jedi exp, like the medical exp.

I've played this game for a year and a half, I am veryprepared for disappointments Really though,I don't care about being uber. I don't want to show off dueling in Theed and offering 1 milllion credits to anyone who can beat me. I don't want to spend millionson capping out my speed and buying quality pearls which will probably tune like crap anyway. All I want is to hang out and talk to people and look at my pretty lightsaber once in a while without having Mark-Anthony and Arp and Camel Man'Sam kill me in three shots if (and most likely when) I get on the terminals! And yes, I have played KOTOR, it is a fantastically made Star Wars game. But sometimes you just wanna hit on a dancer or something you know?

Lastquestion though.... Still wondering why Jedi don't wear armor and be pikemen.
