Thread: If Jedi aren't 1.5x as powerful...
Just playing Devils Advocate here a minute - I have both a full-template Jedi and full-template (for the moment) MBH and in my experience of PvP it is invariably the Jedi who are left standing. Fair enough, someone with a heavy Doc template who knows their template inside out and uses a lot of food/drink can toe-to-toe with Jedi - but this is usually the exception to the rule, and these people would surely become even more godly with a Jedi character at their disposal.
Point is, with the current FOTM Jedi are very hard to put down by regular classes *in general*. Jedi only need to invest 84 skill points to have 3 of the best combination skills in the game (Improved Aura, Improved Force Armor, Improved Heal). Add to that Jedi innate armor and you have a very formidable template even if you yourself are pretty useless at PvP.
I have yet to lose to any MBH on my Jedi and I have what many would consider to be a "gimped" template (MPowers/MEnhancer/Healer 4040). I have very little in the way of defence besides Force Armor and yet I don't feel "stressed" when fighting regular players. Contrast this with my MBH/MCM - I struggle in virtually every fight, particularly against the FOTM templates (and especially against MDefs). Practically every fight becomes a question of timing food usage properly, having buffs beforehand, etc.
I think people should take a step back and realise that even without the majority of Jedi having premium/flawless pearls in their sabres, they are still inherently stronger than practically every equivalent class combination (unless they themselves have godly pre-CU power hammers or equivalent weapons-that-should-not-exist-or-no-longer-drop).

Not really comparing Jedi vs Jedi as that's a different argument really. Point is, if I can kill most players without even touching them with my sabre (which is near useless thanks to no decent pearls), then am I not powerful? Too powerful perhaps?
Jedi clearly has considerable allure for many people since it seems to be the one thing that practically everyone on the server is gravitating towards. You can't tell me that the vast majority of people are doing this "because they are bored" or "because there is nothing else to do". The whole gated Village system and 30:1 combat/FS ratio is a horrible grind - no one would do it if there wasn't some measured benefit for them in the long term.
Point is, people get Jedi because they know that it is the end-game as far as PvP goes, and in many cases PvE too.
If that doesn't clearly show that Jedi, as a class, are intrinsically more powerful than all but the most die-hard combination templates with mad food/drink use then I don't know what is.
1) We dont need to buy armour or weapons, like TKA's we are pretty self sufficient on this front.
2) We can run fast, heal well, hit hard and take damage.
3) We have to outsiders what seems like alot of content, village, jedi/bh, frs.
Now the problem is this is all perception not necessarily fact, we may not need to buy weapons but we still need components and these are pretty damn rare and expensive. We may not need armour but choosing defence limits what else we can do. We have the CHOICE of a vast range of skills and abilities but contrary to popular belief jedi cant cloka, stasis be master lightsaber and have godlike defences, like any other class we have to choose our templates carefully to survive and to fit our playstyle. Our content is boring, the village is repetitive, dull quests and its not even for jedi, the jedi/bh system is generally more hassle than fun these days (i actuall miss the old melee stacked ADK Ls PSG crowd!! normally its just /yawn another cm) and the FRS is switched off till god knows when.
Im not saying i dont prefer my jedi character, we do have big advantages, its just nowadays the us vs them mentality has gotten so big that its often a chore to play.

I can only speak for myself when I say this, but I suspect there are others like me...
I started this game in January 2004. I quickly learned from other players that the way to attain Jedi was to master professions until you hit that magic "silent" one that would unlock your Jedi char. I ground 22 professions, and would have ground the rest, to finally unlock my Jedi after 4 months of constant grinding (5 hours a day minimum).
After all that hard work, I obtained my Jedi character, who at that time could have no regular skills, only Jedi ones. I had heals at that time that healed 50-200 damage, a saber that did kinetic damage and with which I could only do 5 specials before running out of force, and force powers that did nothing other than give a pretty light show. I never fought anyone in PvP at that point because of the saber tef and because I could have lost to anyone with an elite prof novice box and some medic skills.
And you know what? I loved it. I got this game because I had a desire to be a Jedi, and regardless of my ability level, I loved swinging the saber and watching the light show that did nothing.
After all that, countless enhancements and nerfs to the Jedi prof, I'm still here. And not because Jedi is the ultimate fighting prof. At many times it has been far from it. I play because I enjoy playing as a Jedi and that's what I bought the game to be.
