Thread: A disturbance in the force...
Hi everyone,
I thought it would be proper for me to do a formal introduction.
If you haven’t heard, as my shiny new blue name and title to the left alludes to (still waiting on that), I am the new Jedi Correspondent. I’ll be taking over Arjun’s legacy, and hopefully doing just as good of a job.
Speaking of which, I’d like say right now that I appreciate and congratulate Arjun on everything he has done for Jedi. He did an amazing job as the correspondent and I am very saddened to see him go, but as time goes on these things happen. He will always have my up-most respect for the determination and tenacity he continually displayed in the highly turbulent and emotional Jedi forum.
Moving on, I guess I’ll start out by telling you all a little bit about myself.
First off, I’m a Star Wars freak (not to be confused with geek). I’ve loved Star Wars since I was a little kid, having pretty much all the toys and seeing the movies until my eyes were practically bleeding. I’m not too familiar with the EU, but I do know tidbits about it from here and there.
How about my SWG life you ask? Well, I’ve been playing daily since (almost) the beginning, July 29th. My first profession was Swordsman, but I didn’t like it too much (back then) so I moved on to Bounty Hunter (don’t hurt me please). After finally mastering BH (those that remember the old Investigation grind know what I’m talking about) I began mastering professions to try to unlock my FSCS. After mastering 28 professions I finally unlocked on March 19th.
So, yes, I haven’t been through what some of you have with all the Jedi system changes, but I do know where we are now and that’s what I’m concerned most about, especially as our new correspondent. My main concerns are what our current issues are and where we will be in the future.
“Keep your eyes to the future but be mindful of the present” (not quoted exactly, like I said freak not geek
)
I’ve been around these forums for a while, but I usually don’t post much. I still check them daily, but I usually prefer to keep to more ‘focused’ forums. Some of you may recognize my name as one of the five people Arjun chose to assist with testing during the Sandbox Combat Revamp. Others may know me for my “Jedi Revamp” or “Jedi Path Revamp”guides, or perhaps from my “RIS, Facts and Fiction” guide. However, my main involvement with Jedi has been on the private Taelo forums, where I have been a (very) active member since shortly after I unlocked. This is where Arjun and quite a few others have come to know me well.
On the private forums I have posted guide after guide, and generally contributed as much as possible for my fellow Jedi. My main goal is always to be helpful and try to maintain a positive attitude, and now that I have been named your new correspondent I will be posting here more often and bringing over as much of that “spirit” as possible (though it can prove a little difficult on these forums at times).
With all that being said, you should hopefully realize that Jedi (and SWG for that matter) are near and dear to me. Therefore, as your new correspondent, I will be doing everything in my power to make sure our concerns and issues are brought to the attention of the devs and (hopefully) get addressed.
Now, I just want to point out to those that don’t understand what a correspondent is, I am a regular player just like you. I am not a developer or even a SOE/LucasArts employee. I’m not receiving any money for doing this “job” either. I was just selected by the devs to be the representative of Jedi, a channel if you will, for the devs to communicate with the players and vice versa. You can suggest things to me or lobby complaints, but that does not mean that I can make it happen or get it fixed. All it means is that I can try to bring it to the devs attention and hope that it gets addressed. I’m not at their offices and I don’t know their agendas, plans, or secrets. I work a job and pay to play the game like all of you, so please try to understand and respect that.
Anyway, thanks again everybody, hopefully I can live up to my predecessor’s legacy and everyone’s expectations,
