Greetings;

Recently we are having some situations on our server European-Infinity.

The situation is...

Player having extreme lag at some server sectors suddenly or a bh attacks or in a pvp event or such. When player gets away from thesector lag goes away and if he comes back to the source of this thing happening lags start again. This lag happens in nearly every spot of the galaxy due to situation its not about how many players in that sector not about anything else.Even in situations where 300+ chars/models/npcs in a sector worst lag happening at most the half of this situation is causing. This situation causing player to have 1 fps and around 3000-5000 ping constantly. Also connection lost messages appearing on the screen like a blink but actual connection is never lost.

This thing maybe caused by some bad code in the net code of the game....

Maybe....

This is just a DoS (denial of service) attacks being done to the server causing all the people around the one whos doing this lag.

Maybe....

This can be anything else and not even an exploit or bad net code...

So....

If you ever had this kind of situation PLEASE create a CSR ticket about the issue with the following info.

Where it happened (acutal wp and planet)

When it happened (actual world time)

If possible screenshot link of combat log etc.

Also if you ever had these kind of experience please share your thoughts here.

Many thanks.

PS:I posted this thread on Jedi forums because this situation happens most at Jedi Vs BH fights and some pvp events where Jedi involve as well.Though issue itself is about whole game.

no offence, but are you aware of how a DDOS is executed?

One person from one computer does not a DDOS make. Plus it would be traceable in seconds flat if it was one machine.

I think you'll find that this issue is simply a problem with your service provider. Perhaps they're actually under attack themselves, which isn't uncommon with ISP's. This would affect your game in a big way.
Or, if you're a Cable user, then someone could be running a game server or group of game servers in your block, which would effectively suck up all the bandwidth available to other users connected to the same node, and thus again, would cause the same problems you're experiencing.

But i highly doubt it's a DDOS and wouldn't worry about wasting a CSR's time by submitting a ticket.

I am not %100EXACT sure what that is.Many different ppl having this problem from different countries dont think they share the same ISP or telecom company...Lets see how ppl will react.

am reading more and more about this type of thing all over these boards....to try and chalk it up to just "your isp" is not plausable anymore considering the amount of peeps hollering about this type of thing.

good vet response tho....completely try and discredit rather than make a significant amount of input on topic. troll elsewhere.
