Up until this past weekend I was Master Powers / Master Defender / 0/0/2/0 Healer and 0/0/0/3 Enhancer. Pre-19 it wasn't a bad build as you could shock and sap a person along with drop the other states that Powers offered; however, there wasn't much to be done in the senseof damage since most all attacks were mitigated by armor. Post-19 Powers blows even more with choke being best used against non-Doctor/CM dabbler templates. Lightning is pathetic in dps for the time it takes to warm up, execute and cool down along with the fact that we burn through action faster than Pre-CU carbineers if we're using Force Speed or Combat Speed buffs.
In all honesty if you're not looking to dish out a load of damage and/or have a great group of people who can effectively keep agros off of you including other players in PvP then a non-LS template will work. Unfortunately the power of Improved Armor break (65% reduction in armor), increased damage in Power attack (regardless of timers it's by far one of the best attacks in sabers) and the fact that Saber Throw from MLS can combine two of Force Powers attacks into one for less time and 3x more damage are just too tempting to really pass up. Considering that with Publish 19 elemental damage now works and all sabers received a decent boost in damage output, it's silly not to keep some sort of LS skills in your template if you hope to survive. If and when they fix Powers to actually have some power to its attacks don't count on it being useful against much anything above single level 70 in PvE.

yes i have no saber in my template- Mpowers/Mdef/0002enhancer/3000healer
its a bit tough without the saber as it isnt very effective against jedi but non-jedi pvp and pve its as effective or even more in terms of damage. so yes you can survive without saber but you'll be playing more of a support class rather then straight on pvp atleast with other jedi.

I went with a variation of the SWGHottie special:
Mpowers, MEnhancer, Healer 4004
I like it alot. It is real fun to play and has lots of options in a fight. Due to the low DPS level in powers tho it isnt that powerful.
It is really fun in a group and if alone you you can do a lot because you can stop any Mob in its tracks with stasis or if need be run and cloak. Lots of stuff at your disposal with this temp. I often will run around with a bowcaster or a pistol to give me more range and damage while fighting.
Force armor is good enough to keep you alive but if you stand toe to toe with a Jedi with MLS or armor break its not a good thing.
I picked this template for the fun aspect more than for the domination factor. People love the template tho because I can provide good support. That is the main role of the no LS jedi atm until they fix powers DPS
I'm 0211 Bio Engineer, Novice Entertainer, and Master Defender. NO LIE!!! The CL80 and aura/avoid incap makeit real easy to sample those high-end creatures without fear of death. In fact, the worst that has happened to me is that I have to use a stim D to heal while getting to my swoop.
I do have Novice Healer and Novice Saber in there, but my saber does the same damage with /saberHitthat my FWG5 pistol does with the basic ranged attack (650ish). Thank god I'm not on the terms anymore.

Still debating which to master next: Healer or Power, but I will have no LS

How's FA2 working out for you outside of the armor break? I've recently been contemplating the same build but instead of healer picking up either 4/0/4/0 defender or 4/4/0/0 Sabers for armor break, power attack, blind and bleed. The MP / MD build is nice but the best I can do hold down something but not do much damage thanks to the current state of Powers. Aside from that I do like the idea of FR3 and cloak along with the option to stasis things if I need to either make a quick break and/or want to pummel something.
