Thread: Jedi / Crafter Template Design help.

I'm grinding into a template for extra protection when i must bring my weaponsmith into hostile enviroments.

My goals are:
To be a level 80.
Use 96 points or less in Jedi Professions.
Be effective in the method of my defense whether it be root&run, fight&tank, kite&lightning.

I'm pretty sure the skill point restriction forces me into a single mastery or 4 full columns between 2 jedi profession to hit level 80.

I have ls0032, enh1002, hlr nov now - grinded a bit to try to figure things out myself and i can't seem to think of an idea i completely like. atm i'm thinking either just mdef, def4040/enh4400, enh4404/pwr0400, def4040/ls0044 and def4440/hlr4000.

Hey There,


Good luck deciding how to spend your Jedi pts. If you become a Jedi/Master Armorsmith - you'll probably be the richest Jedi in the game!


So how to spend the 96 force pts. is a tough question. If you purely want defenses, MDef is probably the way to go. If you want to have some defenses and Jedi powers I'd go with MEnh since you'll get Force Armor, and Force Run plus Stasis and a few other tricks to confuse your enemies. You might want to be careful of the Enhance/Powers combo if Cloak gets nerfed. The loss of cloak would probably make that mix less interesting. If you want a combo of good offense and defense pick 2 trees in saber and 4 4 0 0 defender (no force cost on the defender skills since you'll have lower force power with only 4 trees learned).


A dancer did this a while back - however she had a few more points to spend in Jedi I think (106 for dancer and 24 for FS left her with 120 for Jedi). With 120 SP in Jedi you can pick all the novice trees to get 1K force power and then pick any 4 trees to train in to get to CL 80. This would allow you to take one line of saber, force aura in defender, one enhancer and healing - or some other combo.


I'm assuming you have 96 pts. to spend in Jedi b/c you're using some pts. for surveying or merchant (I think armorsmith is 92 and 24 for FS = 116). If you can use your alt for the merchant surveying stuff you could have 134 skill pts for jedi which would allow for some additional skills (you could go MDef and get one tree in saber and have some pts. left for other stuff).

That is sort of the setup I have worked myself into now and i hate it, it kinda of feels like i've ruined the potential of my alt.

I farther played with the math and noticed that if i allow myself to take 4 columns across 3 professions, I found a lot more templates I'm more confortable with.

Defender and Healer I consider classes on their own and Lightsaber, Power, Enhancer as somewhat the 'problem solving' classes. Defender and Healer keep me alive, but what between those two can solve my problem of an attacker? Nothing. Enhancer: Root and Run, can play as a force bank in group play if theres other jedi. Lightsaber: Entertain their insides with a lightshow. Powers: Cloak / Blast em. (I'm unsure of powers offense potential as I haven't played around much yet.)

I've just reached LS 0044, ENH 1002. I'm just about to make all my 'final sabers' and make my decision that if among two professions, lightsaber ain't one of them. Also played with the few force 'powers' I have while having my trusty Vibro Lance and Nightblade equipped, even if i can only use now defensive power with other weapons equipped, even if I'd only have ranged shot, maybe i should myself a rifle with one hella uber minimum damage stat, one to put any LS to shame and then not worry about having a means of attack or problem solving. I'm CERTAIN that after customizing a rifle to my needs (now being able to ignore sac costs) I can pump that minimum past 775 after slice and pup while maintaining no greater than 2.5 speed and a capped max. Add some GRS/GRA/RifleAcc/RifleSpd, I should be damn happy. Enh4000 to speed myself and to make sure they can't hit me would be quite the combo.

Its a bit different when he's mixing a crafter with Jedi.

but it gimps your force totals, and cuts down on abilities....would be better off to full template and grind the alt to a crafter...

He's not worried about abilities or totals. He wants a bit of Jedi experience mixed in with his crafter.

why would anyone want to grind a substandard proffesion?....I am talking about jedi.... guess at least the crafting side could do the fighting....

Jedi/Standard Profession Hybrids aren't completely nerfed. Even though I'd really prefer my main keeps her weaponsmithing at this point, theres still a few hybrids that are very, very uber (at least in theory) I'm still considering being that all defensive powers work despite what type of weapon is equipped and that all offensive powers still work with a LS equipped or without a weapon equipped. Using TK for CoB, PowerBoost, Innate Armor and Defense Mods you can take Non-LS offensive ability from Jedi. Or one particular template I am considering most besides my WS+Crafter 'wish':

Def Master/Enh 0001/Medic4440/Doc Master -or- Def Master/Enh 0402/Medic4440/Doc 4004
Pure support/front-line tank profession. Buff your group up before entering combat, steal agro via heal/dominate mind while keeping your friends alive at the same time, tank the mob using your very high defense potential while your group blasts it to hell twice over, replenish their force when done-you don't need it. This is INSANE potential sitting here in this template, just make sure you keep your hands open 1) to take advantage of the UA Defense Mod, 2) prepare yourself for any future patchs involving weaponry and defensive powers.

Hybrid potential is hardly nerfed.

Thats besides the point however. I consider Jedi to be the 1 man team: Can do everything well, however the master of none, except tank. This is why I've chosen to try to hybrid my WS with Jedi to accomplish, in plain simplest terms, survival. I want to be able to send my WS to Dathomir and lay harvesters while petting the biz natches, meanwhile before I'd have trouble on Corellia with the Crazy Durni and Giant Gubburs. Whatever my means to be is-I don't care! survival is my only goal.

Edit: I've been Jedi for a while now, about 2-3 months, but it wasn't til less than I week ago I learned my first novice box and started exploring the Jedi professions. If I've said anything naive or incorrect, please inform me.

the only proffesion you can master with jedi is tkm....at least you can used knucklers and still be considered unarmed...or at least the last time i checked was...

Wrong.

You can reap defender for its mods only to team with *ANY* other profession.
*ANY* non-offensive power (speed, run, aura, channel, transfer, cloak, heal, infuse, etc.) can be used with anything equipped.
*ANY* offensive power can be used by deequipping your weapon, using the power and reequipping your weapon. Changing weapons during combat does not require a timer recycle/reuse/cooldown/whatever.

i played a template like this for a good few months before finally going full template..


i was


x4x4 LS 4xxx healer 44xx enhancer and novice defender along with MASTER weaponsmith


the MWS tag really confused BH - and yes i was CL 80 - to get level 80 from just jedi skills you need one master box or 41/2 trees


and yes i get very rich doing this - but did get shot with my own guns occasionally
