So i was fighting a few CL82 Ranged NPCs yesterday, and i got a taste of their new specials. Damn do they know how to use them. They even killed my friend (incapped) and then rooted me to prevent me from going over to heal her...as if they knew or something. Def cool that they have new specials.

HOWEVER, while i was fighting 2 of them, one of them snared me with the Carbineer Snare skill (dont remember what it is atm). And MAN oh MAN!! Even with Force Run 2 on i couldn't move ANYWHERE. It was like i was stuck in glue. I think if i was snared and racing a character who was -walking-, i would still lose. Snare is THAT effective.

So it got me to thinking....how the hell am i gunna kill a BH?! If FR2 doesn't help, then all they have to do is snare and run away and there isn't a DAMN thing i can do about it!

I dont want to 'cry nerf' here..but anyone else see this snare as being a bit excessive? I mean, i have FR2...not 1...and i was still DAMN slow. I thought the whole point of FR2 is that it will help u move faster with a snare on u, thats why they added the dmg reduction for using it...as a balance. Well with these new snare, FR2 does nothing....so i want my dmg reduction modification removed LOL

If you read the post notes on pub 24 as they were coming out, you would have seen that THE POWERS THAT BE emphatically stated that any type of snare/root is going to overshadow any applied buff. Since all versions of FR are a single target buff, the debuff(snare/root) takes precedence. You get hit with a root/snare, be prepared to take a long walk off the short bridge lol. Pray for a decent saber, MLS and some saber tosses to keep you going till you can break the snare/root. Only suggestion I've heard of so far is the rancor aid which is supposed to break any roots/snares. I haven't been hunted by a BH in ages so haven't had to worry about it much. I havent seen the fill on the rancor aid or duration so I would look into that if I were you. Or head for master healer to remove all states/debuffs

The damage reduction was added to prevent hit'n'run tactics, it has nothing to do with snare. Right now it doesn't matter which force run you have active, because snare will completely cancel it. Read again the changes in pub 24, it's all there.

yeah i read the patch notes, i always do with a new pub. I must have interpretted them wrong though, cause i thought one snare would be cancelled out by a speed buff, and vice versa. Guess not.

And in argument to the #2 poster...you've going to saber throw at them? What happens when they snare u, back off to 60 meters away and keep snaring and kiting you......answer: you're dead.

I think something needs some attention. I LUCKY have not been hunted by a BH yet so i guess i'll have to wait and see what happens when i finally do fight them.

Rancor aid is a drink that is supposed to cancel the effects of the snares/root from my understanding. I have not tested it personally. AS for my saber throwing at a BH. I forgot to mention that 2 can play the root game. I root a BH then hit em with saber toss. If they are tapping you with a snare, you can still move, albiet slowly, but if i root em, they go nowhere. Works for me anyway with a temp of MLS, DEF 4x4x, ENH 34x2, and HEALER 4xxx

also you cannot be permanently snared, there is a period of time from when the snare wears off that you can't be resnared (well by players anyway npc's don't have this issue same with kd from npc's ) you don't get the daze debuff icon but you get +resisted+ above your screen for about 10seconds after the snare wears off.

Im currently LS 0333 ENH 4202 DEF 1040 and HEAL 4000

I mean, of course i'd root them back..but it doesn't always land for me for some reason. PLUS if they get the right timing to KD you and snare you, they can get outside your 30m throw and snare/root range..and then you're screwed.

Just thought i'd bring this to everyones attention, and find out their input.

I realise the BH is a RANGED profession, and i dont think our MELEE temps should be able to compete with the ranged distance...however this snare has potential to really hinder our already crappy combat range in killing 'ranged' temps....

Rancor aid also only works against the Combat Medic Electrolight drain. the average stats on this are 15 fill 1 minute duration, there are some enhanced versions but it requires very high quality milk, I don't expect many enhanced versions to be around much longer.
a few tips:

I got a mbh/mcm earlier tonight, and here is what happened:

He attacked while I was fully buffed, so I had the fire/disease resists

parylize, debuffs, dots.

Meanwhile I hit my panic macro, runs through my foods, dot reduction foods, and rancor aid.

I'm on his ass, armor breaking, hitting, he's healing like crazy, his mind hits about half. He roots me and starts to take off to kite and regin, however I root him back. He's still armorbroken.. Saber-throw, saber-throw, my root on him breaks, but so does mine before he gets too far. We dance again, then he snares me, but not with electrolight drain (was wise in paying attention that I had rancor aid) but I snare him back, and I'm able to stay within hitting range.

Cycle continued for about 15 minutes, but he went down from running out of mind.

However a smart mcm/mbh would have paralyzed me so I could take no action, and then kite well out of range w/o doing anything, to regin his mind. Then begin the assault, and snare me, staying as far as possible. This one did not, I was fortunate. The method I just mentioned is almost a guarentee win for a mcm/mbh, as this can go on for hours untill your eventually out of force and unable to use anymore holos. Also his armor was not armor-break sliced (however it's reported as being broke at the moment anyway)

My templete: MLS, def xx4x, Enh 24x2, Healer 2xxx, Powers x4xx

Saber: 440-540, 1.90 modified speed, 120 sac 35fc (about to make a new set of sabers, as this is the one I've had since I unlocked this particular jedi)

It will just be a bang fest on me, with them HOUSING me and nothing i cna do about it, not even being able to run

Sadly the only defense for melee people is the rancor aid, or if you're in an urban environment, you can use buildings to break LOS.

FYI Remove states/Total Heal will only remove pre-CU states like stun, dizzy, and blinded. Total heal will also remove, poison, disease, and bleeds.

This is why Master Healer is so weak - comparatively poor ability to heal reliant on force, no defences, an entire worthless tree, and state heals that have no relevance to the post-CU environment.

If they did actually give us a viable profession, then the healer trees would be far more attractive than they are now. Those of us Master Healers who are still aorund are only still MAster Healer becuase we cherish the role, and cling to the small thread of hope that one day our profession will itself, be healed.
