Thread: Let me get this straight on how jedi stands in NGE. (devs, plz read as well)
Correct me if I'm wrong, are they making jedi a STARTER profession like medic/marksman (etc.)is now?
If so, wouldn't it be more fair/fun to all that theywould have to earn it? Don't get me wrong, those on the path that have, like 5/6 branches earned should get 5/6 credit (etc.) whatever path it wouldtake to EARN jedi w/NGE.
If the devs push jedi to a skill that every/anybody can get, what was the point of grinding for months only to be abranch or 2 away from jedi when it will be available to all?
I guarantee that if the devs make it available to everyone, even if they weaken it, a MASSIVEinflux of people will become jedi, and destroy any continuity there is left in the game. I mean we all want a chance to be a jedi, butwho here WANTS a community where 3/4 of thepeople you meetare a jedi? Originality is thrown out the door.
Don't get me wrong, some ofthe other professions look absolutely fantastic, but if the profession of your dreams is pushed onto your lap and the decision is between something new and something you've always dreamed about, what would YOU choose?
Games can be a lot like politics in this:do not give out something that youmight even CONSIDERtaking away later (i.e. Tax repeals, jedi availability), for if you do takeit away itwill cause uprisings, grumbling,and problems throughout the entire community.
Jediis and was designed to bea privilege, not a right. If you want Jedi handed to you on a silver platter, go play Knights ofthe Old Republic 1 or2. Here, jedi are SUPPOSED to be hard to obtain, and are SUPPOSED to bea rewardfordiligence and endurance.
As a current full temp you will get:
A crystal that will insure you have a better saber than new players. A robe with bonuses. The ability to be a blue ghost. You will get to keep your alt.
New players willnot get any of that and will be allowed only one character per acocunt per server.
Other than that, you are correct, Jedi is a starting profession.
I also feel that not as many people as you think will be Jedi. If we currently have47% of players as jedi, expectit to stay the same as jedi players that quit are replaced by new respec jedi. The number in all likelihood will stay the same.New players might become jedi but keep in mind that the profession is not alpha anymore.
Really all of this discussion no longer matters anymore. And yes everyone is going to be jedi. And yes SOE hopes people go out and buy the console version of the game to do just that.
There is no "community" when it comes to the console.....
I don't think many people yet realize just how much different the NGE will really be.
