my new comment cut/pasted from page 1,058,502xpi of the ever-popular Mey posting with the above title (passive FYI, no need to post/reply really).

I may be too smart for my own good, and it's happened a million times in my life, but this Mey person would of course eventually say "oh wait, nevermind, SOE told me it's not the way" when and if he (or SOE) confirmed that [for him] it WAS the way. Just like if UFOs were real, the best way to keep that a secret is to never confirm or deny either way, to let the masses stumble over the issue in ever growing spirals of mystery and intrigue. If I unlocked the FSS (and I will, only just today starting to explore it after 4wks of making money and levelling) and hastily posted my initial findings, I'D turn around and try to cover it up in retrospect as well by saying, "Oops, I confirmed I'm an idiot and you can just forget everything I just said, haha, sorry." Wouldn't you? So, it's pretty likely that [perhaps for MEY ONLY] upon deep thought on my part reading to this point, plus scouring the internet, that this is indeed either THE path [with little or no varying] or ONE of the possible paths to unlocking the FSS. The more I think about it (with BOTH my head and my hear) the more I realize that I am probably closer to being correct right now than every other word I've ever read to date on SWG FSS JEDI UNLOCK SLOT RPG MMOG whatever. This is probably the path, probably LIKE the path or ONE of the paths. It could be that this will work for everyone who tries it OR you have to find a different lineage of NPC quests to investigate OR, this may not work for ANYONE else but Mey and the rest need to find one of the MANY different kinds of long, winding paths to FSS exposure. What is painfully obvious is that there's clearly a code/formula BUT, probaby mutliple ones, to even further increase the difficulty of unlocking FSS (time played, cities visited, NPC quests completed, whatever) AND the pretend "luck" factor (being brand new and immediately happning upon the line of quests or hidden lights or other hidden, nifty, tricky little tell-tales that something is different than it would otherwise seem).

Dude, have you been reading the Forums posts? Don't you know about this Meyeer guy's "The Path IS Revealed - All Details" post about figuring out how to unlock the FSS? This is yet another reason why I am very, very scared sometimes in RL for the collective future of humanity. (Find his post, read the MILLIONS of responses, the HUGE INFAMOUS POST).

I am well aware ofMeyree's theory. I was more interested in trying to figure out what YOU are talking about. I can't make any sense of your first post. What is your point?

I think he is basically saying Mey was right, realised it, then tried to backtrack out of the post by saying it was a load of rubbish so everyone would stop copying him...

But how do we know that you haven't really found the path and are now trying to send us off on a lengthy wild kreetle chase? Hmmmm?

I'd 1-star this post myself if I could. Somebody do it for me.

So, it wasn't a weather balloon?

:imagines Meyer sitting in a concrete room with a single swinging lightbulb on a wire with electrodes taped to sensitive ares of his body. "Just tell them it was a mistake and we'll let you go. Go on, the fingers on your left hand aren't broken. Start typing..."

Lol, I love this board.

I started doing named NPC quests after reading the original post, and I still do them. They're fun.

Yosh that was funny & Skeena I was only kidding btw. It was 8am EST and I'm always finishing up from playing all night after the 7am EST server shut downs (will this go on forever)? Anyway, yes, I was making two very huge and likely very correct points. That Mey after a fashion could indeed have figured something out andat that critical point (like most of us would, not wanting to bust open whole Jedi thing) turned around and said, "No, DOH, I am a numbnut and was wrong all along, disregard everything I said and go back to playing like normal." My second, more important point was that I have almost certainly come to realize that something like what he described is probably THE way to do it but to be honest, I have a greater theory (99% sure it's true) that it's only ONE of the ways to do it (the whole dev "it's diff for everyone" thing). If you really think like a Dev (incredibly easy IMHO) then wouldn't you chose not one, not two, but three (or more) complex ways to layer something like this so that (for the most part) it really DID takes months for most ppl to even come close to unlocking the FSS? Do (a), (c), (f) for account creations 1058, 2741, xxxx, BUT, account creations 1059, 2742, xxxx can get it if they do (b), (d), (g) and so on (this could continue for many layers OR Mey's way might in theory be the only way, or with slight random varyations like other NPC lines besides Nobles, etc, etc, etc, etc...get my drift here? It's becoming painfully clear to the seeming rare few like me who all this almost certainly works, the "recipe" if you will, the "generic understanding" that honestly, still yields no spoiling details but at LEAST, gives the groundwork for more profound investigatiln and understanding).

What almost certainly doesn't change is that whole "you still gotta visit nearly every place [city/planet/park] and talk to many, many, many NPCs over a LOOOONG period of time before you hit on the theoretically near-infinite combinations [or simply some drama-defying static hidden FS xp bar that creeps up just from getting your right on the SAT and/or crawling along in your daily life knocking off whatever MASSIVE checklist exists behind the scenes. Casual player = months and months (so busy tending to their harvesters and grinding and being geeks locked in their bedroom, j/k) hardcore player = months (so busy finding the secret that's well hidden not matter what that it still takes him/her weeks and weeks of trial and error, whereas even in "error" it's likely you're coming closer just because being logged in, alive and interacting with SWG makes that theoretical FS xp bar creep).

So, all I'm really saying is, don't be surprised if it's really a multi-layered, tiered approach by SOE to throw as many REALISTIC and achieveable hurdles on every players way regarding the FIRST step (of many more) to becoming a Jedi, which is first and foremost simply unlocking your FSS to even THINK about POSSIBLY becoming a Jedi from there (phew). So just pretend to be a Dev (if you're smart to begin with) and you can conceive of at least this (but likely a few other) possible scenario on how it's set-up (and there IS a way, there IS an official, Lucas-authorized, corporate written approved policied, procedured code for the whole FSS to Jedi thing, do understand this, even if it's "broken" still and SOE wisely continues to use "mystique" as secret talk for "haha, we're buying time still implementing it, the joke's on you" like they have for years now...and once again, wouldn't you? THINK LIKE THEM, USE THE FORCE LUKE).

ps. I maintain (and what I meant is that in my head AND my heart I feel this is closer to correct than ANY post here or on internet) that it's a few MAJOR ways (or more) to unlock the FSS, either a certain account gets randomly or intentionallly [forumlaic] assigned ONE or TWO of these major ways OR, EVERY of ALL the ways is open generically to ANY account (see? Take 1 or 2 [or more] possibile waysfor how a char is determined to encounter their path, times that by the 1 or 2 [or more] ways TO encounter said path and you have a MUTLI-faceted, MULTI-hurdle way to mask and hide and protect the unlocking of ones FSS. It's like 128-bit encryption or any other analogy where you think "should I protect X from doing "this" or doing "this?" And the correct, obvious answer is, duh, "BOTH" hahaha [or in this case, 3, 4, 5+ great ways to make FSS uber hard instead of just one or two blah blah blah]).

How's this? If you were 10 Devs in a room talking about FSS unlock and subsequent path to Jedi, each of you hadGREAT ways of mapping out the complex, complicated, sought after path to Jedi. Wouldn't one of the wisest and most correct choices in the end be to implement most or ALL of them? Then, you turn around and realize that just in case thosewho mayFINALLY someday figure one of these out, you'll make it so that not EVERY path of the MANY is open to all accounts. Therefore, each account may (in this theory, almost certainly correct) only have ONE or a FEW of the MANY paths open to them (and this can be assigned either randomly client-side or using yet ANOTHER MULTI-LAYERED complex formula like the very paths themselves are). So you have TWO uber brain-hurt things standing in your way 1) many, many possible ways to unlock it (NPC quests, cities, skill points, hidden FS xp bar, nose hair count, whatever, who cares) and 2) those same many ways to unlock it are staggered, so that one of that paths for one player will do jack diddly squat for their buddy or those who read his/her spoiler online (just like YOU AND I would do if WE WERE SOE DEVS). hehe. See? You not only make it hard like you wanted to, you also DO make it possible (for everyone, no matter what, although the last unaddressed thing is your behavior in-game but this is probably just flim flam by SOE) to unlock the FSS BUT, you ALSO even FURTHER protect it by making diff paths open to diff accounts so that you limit "spoiling" by those that start to initially unlock it, OMG, I mean, use your brain/heart if not the Force here. If you read enough like I have in the last 24hrs (and not just here but through Google) you'll really start to see the big picture. I don't care if you were Johnny DumbLastName if you played SWG long enough, even you would unlock the FSS in 2-3yrs from probably just standing under the Starport doorway drooling (I wouldn't go that far but you get my point). And the more aggressively you engage the universe, the less time that will take to happen (NPCs, hidden lights or signs or pictures on walls, OMG, there's SO many things SOE can and probably has done, start getting used to this and we can write less about this subject and more about concrete insights into real progress soon. Trust that something similar to what I write here is definitely the case).

winks
