There is little to no risk. The group members wont give vis. The only problems occur when bh show for jedi that have gotten on the terms. Fly bys will always happen, even solo.

I guess its a matter of perspective... U have a higher chance of getting Vis, as u will be grinding in a busier area (Mos Lowlands and Aarton Ridge on Farstar). But in a AOE group you will definately kill Mobs a lot quicker than u would on ur own. I am a Post-CU jedi and i have never done any solo-grinding and i've managed to get through with onlya couple of BH deaths.

I reckon u just give it a try and compare the pros and cons.

Uneffective unless you are used to it and anyone in the group too.

Classical hunts of non-pack mobs gives faster xp if you have a puller that aggroes critters one by one....

Why?

Because most specials that are not area deals more damage than area attacks.

I tested area groups and always lost TONS of time for nothing.
And spin attacks for jedi have a big force cost where smaller hits have smaller ones... meaning that a jedi can keep making xp instead of resting to restore force.

Area groups give faster XP while you are on a lair, but not for long lasting hunting sessions

I guess this is AOE day on the boards.

You can get uber XP with a good AOE group. Anyone who says otherwise just never grinded with a good group.

I wanted to retemp from MDEF/LS0404 to MLS/DEF 4440 so I needed quitea bit of XP. I linked up with friends and we grinded it out in two days...Try that pulling mobs...

Another thread mentions the pitfalls. A bad group will get everyone incapped...it is funny to watch. Lord help you if a BH with your bounty is watching.

My advice: builda strong grinding group with AOE attackers and docs. Ideally, two fully templated MLSJedi and a doc, along with other AOErs. I'm not sure how squad leaders might help after the revamp...

In my experience of spin groups there is often times when the spinners are doing too much damage to a lair. I've been there when we've been hitting the lair so fast that we've destroyed it long before it has had a chance to spawn all of its mobs. Normally in situations like this MLS'ers will change to lower dmg sabres to compensate.

So... anyone who says XP is gained by pulling mobs one by one, in a group or not, is quite simply wrong.

A good efficient grind group can pull mobs and make some pretty easy xp, sure. They may kill the creatures faster, sure... BUT... a spin group with experienced healers and tanks can take down an entire lair in 3-5 minutes using area attacks. It is awesome to watch when all the purple spam fills the screen at nearly the same time.

Hmm. Some differing opinions here on spin groups.

My spin group typically consists of 1 or 2 MDefs, an MLS, and various other team members (padawans and elite profs). We tear downpiket lairsin roughly a minute and a half. Bols are dumb and don't heal their lair, resulting in less mobs per lair, so we don't hunt bols -- only pikets. Regen is fast with a combo of good healers on the tanks, channelling (Force pool management during the lair attack), and Transfer Force. A *good* night will see 400-500K/hour for a CL80 Jedi. I'm not certain, but I think the elite profs can make a mil or so per hour.

On my server, everyone hunts north from the MO. So we go south. Less players, less drive-bys, less NPC's. Life is good.
