Thread: An appeal for those who wish to Role-Play
Harassmant & SOE's own rules and beliefs (fully checkable and confirmable)
On the SOE website you will find rules of conduct. A very interesting guide to how the game should be played and what SOE condone as fair play. So let us examine this rule:
1. You may not harass or threaten other players (sexually, racially, or otherwise).
Harassment is defined as any unwanted or unwelcome behavior beyond the limits of good taste and appropriate game context.
Now,I questioned this rule with CSR-KevinH in live chat in full view of other gamers and asked him whether enforced PvP would be considered harassment. He agreed with me. He also agreed that he could not in his powers remove the BH terminals and that he would copy the entire conversation in the live chat to the development team. Now, I am not sure if this has been done or not, but when the game's own CSR's consider enforced PvP against Jedi to be harassment when the Jedi just want to enjoy time with their friends, their guild, to RP in peace and to not have the idiots come around, talking in expletives at you every time you do something fun in the game, then I challenge SOE's own rules policy as in esscence they are breaking their own rules and causing harrasment to players.
A way to satisy everyone once and for all and let Jedi become PvE only
I have thought long and hard about this and can see a way that SOE could re-develop Jedi to satisfy both the PvP players and those, like myself who wish to play the game's challenges and quests and RPa PvE Jedi.
1. For those wishing to become PvE Jedi, have a one time option only to remove the 'duel' facility. Completely remove it, no going back and no asking for support to change it back. When the Jedi chooses the option to remove the 'duel' facility they are instantly taken out of the BH terminal system and they can no longer go 'special forces' which will stop players complainingabout Jedi causing destruction to bases.
This would stop many Jedi dueling for fun at starports. It wont stop them all, but for those that don't want this option they will indeed prefer a life of PvP in the first place.
2. FRS System.Now I have no idea what the new FRS will bring, but if we consider my first suggestion to be good and implemented, then a PvE Jedi system could be quest based. It could also involve fighting against PvE Jedi with similar skills to players (and they are currently implementing NPC's to use 'specials'). This would allow PvE Jedi to progress, albeit as slow as the developers wish to make it in relation to the PvP Jedi who really deserve a fast track as they need the bonus skills more than the PvE Jedi to survive in the game now.
I honestly believe this balanced approach with an option for all sides will solve a multitude of problems in the game right now. It may also help get the player community back together somewhat and seems to satisy a number of the more vocal groups.... giving them all what they are after.

BH v Jedi is written directly into the original game context, therefore it is appropropriate. If you choose not to PVP with your jedi, then grind solo, do not get on the terms and enjoy your gameplay.

It's an integrated post and I listed the rule and the CSR's involvement in discussion to show that SOE's own staff consider it harrasment whatever the game mechanics say.
