Thread: A weaponsmith's analysis of A broken lightsaber.
Hello, it's nox. Weaponsmith of bloodfin.
I've had the good fortune to come across a broken lightsaber which I have put to some examination.
Firstly, I could not operate it - nor could I repair it with the tools available to me.
It appears to be a one-hand melee weapon - at least I judge that from the current configuration, however - it appears that the weapon is somewhat modular - I'll explain more in a moment.
The weapon consists of three obvious pieces.
1) Upper body unit
2) middle body unit
3) lower body unit.
In the item I have analyzed, the lower body unit is passive, and holds some unknown function. It's also short, and provides the base of the one-handed body.
The most interesting thing about the lightsaber is that the body sections themselves are modular. This would suggest that the body units could be replaced by other body units - perhaps for alternate functions or for more advanced engineering. Not being able to compare the light saber with any other of the type, I can only guess at what those other sections might be.
One obvious conclusion is that the lower body unit, which is present in the lightsaber that I have, could possibly be replaced by a second beam shaping unit, for a dual-bladed light-saber staff.
Alternately, a lightsaber could possibly have a longer lower body unit, and function primarily as a 2-handed weapon, or possibly they are used 1 and 2 handed alternately. I doubt any jedi would share this information, and it's speculation on my part.
As I understand it, Jedi will craft their own lightsabers - as a lightsaber crafted by another jedi would be less effective. Perhaps that is just rumor, or false information. This would suggest though that a jedi would be able to customize his own weapon, for two-blades, or perhaps for something more personal and less functional such as appearance and color of blade.
Excellent post, very interesting, a breath of fresh air amongst the slew of "i think i know how to be a jedi!!!" and "WHINE WHINE I can't be one!" threads that seem to dominate this forum.
Thanks for your analysis, Maybe I'll see you around on Bloodfin.
i would like to say that by his analysisationa light saber has special connections like the middleiswereit will contain the main compontents. so i guess its going to work out like a system You have to have 3 different Sections the top the Middle and the bottom of it, so what i think is it will work out that you have to make parts forthen use it to make sections, using raw Resources to make the parts ,then using thethe parts to make the sections then attach the sections together to make a light saber. I would guess that if your making a normal light saberyour goingto make it a costume fastion so you could and like a power booster to increase the damage or add a 2 crystals to make a certain color or some kind of addivite.
<Note: I have seen how it looks like in the game by they way it is in the game and in the movies it is fully costumisable by they way it looks and that Darth Maul was able to use his even after it was cut in half there for It is made up into sections not just one whole unit>
