Korom, I actually understand and agree with a lot of your points.
What I don't agree with, is that the solo play makes it hard.
I don't remember actually stating that anywhere, but I'd be up for you expounding so I can explain if what I said was taken that way.
It's really not that hard, it's just infuriatingly DULL. We spend months or years making friends (which, let's face it, are the only reason most of us are still playing), and then have to never play with them for months while we grind. It's boring, and it's the main reason my alt gets a lot more play than my Jedi.
I love the master-apprentice idea, even though it probably wouldn't do me much good since I don't even know any Knights still playing.
I appreciate you actually taking time to read my post in a mature fashion and reply. I had to laugh when I saw I got 1*'d. I am all for enhancing the gameplay of Jedi, and Bounty Hunter alike. I live with a Jedi, and we discuss the problems on both sides extensively. I think we agree more than we disagree on what needs to be done about the system. Funny thing is he hates most other Jedi...mainly because he believes, and I agree with him, that he did Jedi the correct way and is having less of a problem with the systems than others who took the easy paths. I'm not saying he's the only one out there who did it right, just saying that out of a lot of people, most are the "quick and easy path" Jedi. I saw him grind away mindlessly for hours and complain about the boredom, and I would take time out of my playing to sit and talk with him as he fought asking questions and suggesting alternatives and vice versa.
The problem both he and I see with so many suggestions posted on the forums can be summed up in one word....Abuse. We've played SWG almost from launch, and paper rpg's long enough to know when players want ways to abuse existing rules, or try to get around them. Powergaming is in the human genome it seems. We all want to win....its just that some of us want to win at any cost because of the inability to deal with loss.
Sadly though this mentality does not help us mature...the losses are what mature us and make us more determined, and hardened and resilient. I can't count the times I've been ganked by squads when soloing Jedi, nor can I count the times that my friend has had his fair share of gank squad members come for him. Both he and I have never ganked anyone...we respect the fight and respect the players enough not to grief them. Plus we do not think that "Winning is everything"...losses count for something too. Experience and maturation are their benefits.
I wish you the best, and hope for a better future.
