Premium and Flawless pearls are no longer dropping, only "good". Since the CU (at least). Altough the use of ADK's helps current jedi maintain high quality sabers without decay, new jedi are at a significant disadvantage - I dare you to find a new jedi with a 10 FC saber (that didn't get ahold of pre-nerf premiums). And while we're on the subject, why in the world have I been looting Krayt Dragon Pearls and Krayt Dragon Tissues off of dead imperials at high end bases?!?!

So I just reopened my account to finish my template before the FRS went into effect. Basically the way I see it once my template is done there will be nothing left for me to do except cancel my account because the two things I would do are currently bugged/broken.
For emphasis they are:
1. Take part in the FRS to progress my character.
2. Kill Krayats in hope of looting premium and flawless perls for my saber.
Since both are currently broken because the Combat Upgrade wasn't adequately tested before being pushed live, I'll probably cancel my account (again) until it is because I'm not gonna sit around wasting my time with nothing to do.
I don't really understand how the servers calculate drops, but it would seem that at least fixing the drop rate for perls would be a real simple fix. I understand that the FRS will take more time, but SOE, you really have to give Jedi something to do with themselves once they complete their templates.
You've done good in your marketing efforts to repopulate the servers, please to make it all for nothing by driving more veterans away from the game by having all the high end content bugged.

Based on what. You know absolutly nothing about the actual code of this game unless you are working for SOE...
It's like saying...I'm not an uber football player...but I could play in the NFL.
Don't be too sure of that. They fired people so many times there that I doubt if there are original coders in there anymore, and that the current batch of devs had to take crash courses on how SWG codes work. Nevermind the ones that grew disgruntled at the way SOE is handling things and quit voluntarily.
They know what they're doing. The removal was deliberate and tied directly to levels. All they have to do is bring up the database and change the value to tie the loot to another level and/or specie. Tiggs and a couple other devs even acknowledged this when they said premie crystals were removed from the game as a side effect of bringing DJK and DJM level down.

Kind of reminds me of when certain creatures stopped having babies.
They hemmed and hawed about it till they admitted to taking them out till they did the creature rebalance.
This is pure speculation, but it has crossed my mind that they may be considering a lightsaber revamp in terms of construction, skill, and the effect of pearls/crystals.
This may be the reason why premium pearls are not being reintroduced, much like the baby creature issues you mentioned.
With all the heated discussion on this forum about pre-CU vs post-CU sabers, it may very well be a pre-requisite to any new FRS going live.
Again, pure speculation on my part.
Clickt the reply button , want to talk about the pearl issue but hey ... no one who can fix this gives a sh*t
Why do i play this game again ?
Is it my imagination or has even "good" pearl prices on the vendor search been going up? I used to be able to snag them for 500k if I was watching closely, but now most are in the 2-3 mil range. That either means even the "good" pearl drops are becoming harder to come by, or there are a lot more jedi now.
I'm sorry, but I don't like gambling with millions of credits, it's not so bad with the "good" pearls but the pre-cu pearls are selling for obcene amounts when they just may tune as poorly as a "good" pearl. Why do people spend 10-20+ mil on a pre-cu pearl when, even if it IS flawless, there is no guarantee it will tune well? When you can buy 8-20 "good" pearls for that amountand have a pretty good chance of a decent tune?
loot dropped by npcs in the game is probably added in by a tool program that has absolutely no effect on the "code" in the background...
most things are probably just entries in a database (like krayt loot) and when a dragon dies it just performs a select statement to get the loot table, then it does a random number of some sort and selects the goodies to give the players...
Angry bags, Angry bags, can you say Angry bags? Since CU, since CU new code with a creature/NPC thats just an angry bag. Works like objects in programming. And explains why loot is spread among various NPC/creatures. Another posted about the angry bags and it blossomed my understanding of the CU coding.
You get an object. Assignthe objectto be a certain creature or NPC. Link the skin of object. Bio Engineers can see this relationship. Assignthe objecta level. With the level is a loot given from the loot tables. THe loot tables are generated using an axis that dipicts level, and another axis that dipicts loot. Certain loot falls into a certain range of levels. Like good pearls will be given as loot from NPC/creatures that are level 85 to 100. Just as an exapmle, with the higher level recieving a better chance of dropping. New coding is being written to start distingushing creatures and attack types and specials and armors and weapons. Just the new code was not ready as of the CU. The CU was just the basics of code to allow the game to at least function while finishing the major code was in the works.
So using this table say 3 nunas spawned outside of Moenia that were level 95. Automatically since the 95 level has been assigned certain loot can be expected. Indeed you could expect a greater chance of getting a pearl from a level 95 nuna than from a level 90 krayt reguardless of planet. Of course the nuna would be a fearsom beast and the level 90 krayt would be killed by the level 95 nuna. Be funny to watch though. Make it a 50m tall nuna too. WHy not eh?
I like that idea. I want a 50m tall level 95 nuna to spawn south of Moenia in the swamps. Do you folks like this idea?
