Thread: Jedi has died
when are you people going to wake up and realize...they will not make a pre-CU server.
Do you know how much work it would be for them to write 2 different sets of code just cause of some whiny peeps that can't stop livin in the past...they can barely write one code without it gettin all bugged to hell.
man you guys just don't give up do you....you don't like it...simple...stop playing. The CU has been around for over about 6 months now...this is SWG, if you don't like the CU, then why have you been playing it for the 6 months that the CU has been around.....stop beating that dead horse cause its already mush.

problem iwth SWG is that everyone has pre concived notions of what Star Wars actually IS...and the developers, like much of the player base is struggling to find that vision.
It's not that hard. If you watch the movies that the game is SUPPOSED to take place in (more like in between) and implement that, you got what you are looking for.

ooh I like your signature, very niceee.. As for Jedi being dead, nope we are like rats in a box getting more and more everyday, as the days go by the balance of the force flails out of balance more and more and things become well chaotic. The DEV's do not help the situation, by limiting us they are making us weak one method to resolve the problem is to return LS to a more unique style.
For instance, if you want to master 1 handed, have Master 1 Handed, or Master 2 handed, or Master double Bladed, then have taking one skill set require enough skill points that taking more than one style would be a detriment to other skills, but not enough where in you could not master the whole style, with it increase block to 45% at Mastery and give a 10% Ls bonus to defense. Then for Powers, have it have two styles, one environmental, the other biological and have that as LS, make it very difficult on the bottom end to take both styles, leave Enhancer the same.
Healing should have a slow ability to Rez and, a DOT called Fatigue or some such that drains the Mind for 2 minutes. Defender, should have specilization like ranged and Melee emphasis. That would bring jedi into a more board deversity that will not be min/maxed hmm why not create two professions for each discipline, then have the 3 styles of sabre.

I honestly think Jedi is fine overall atm. Yes, we can use improvements, but overall at the moment, we are doing well.
For those of you who complain constantly on forums, you are wasting time here rather then being in-game and improving your Jedi.
To those supporting the CU I ask, do you think it has been a "success" and if so, define sucess?
IMO, the player base has fallen off a cliff. Crafters are hard to find and as such, prices are sky high leading to the advent of credit farmers (something we never had pre-cu). Jedi is borked even under the goals of the CU (1.5X a normal prof) due to the lack of prem/flawless pearls and the devs admit it (it's a bug and they intend to fix it, some day). I find the combat style now boring as heck. I loved watching my TKM fly around kicking the cr-ap out of mobs. Now it's hit.....hit....hit...... it's so exciting. If they were to bring up a pre-cu server as it was before the CU hit, I would make a toon on it. I would not abandon by Jedi that took me a year to make, at least not at first. I wonder how many people would create toons on the pre-cu server. How many ex-players would reactiavte so that they could. We will never know because there will never be a pre-cu server. This game will die before that happens as I do not think the current staff want a pre-cu server. The guys running the show areEQII guys, not SWG guys. I have said all along that the real intent of the switch to an EQII style combat system was to simplify the game to the point where young children could understand it and play it. That's what they got. Many of the teens/adults have gotten bored and left. Bottom line, just looking at the fall off in players, the CU has been a failure, from a marketing point of view. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, but us peeps that *wish* we could havethe pre-cu game are not whiners, we are just stating our opinions. I do not expect it to happen, so it's moot. I'm playing my toons in the new system, now that I can, and that's that. When I get bored or stop having fun, or if the game becomes disfunctional due to loss of players/crafters, I will leave.
Peace,
It's not the game folks, it's the PVP.
PVP Brings a certain personality type to the game, this is why PVP has been removed from almost every MMORPG.. It is because of this personality type that developers have thrown up their hands in the air and removed PVP systems. IT causes too much hate, and is bad for business.
It's got nothing to do with the game. When UO was pvp everywhere but cities, the boards were just as bad, if not worse. They effectively got rid of PVP, and all those people went somewhere else, subscriptions rose, and the forums/boards cleared up.

wow is the most successful MMORPG in the world right now and it has pure pvp servers, and even on hte normal servers they have Factional TEF's.
Linage is also one of the most popular multiplayer games in the world and guess what? the entire game is open pvp.
