This is the Single Master Template I am using works pretty good in group PvP. If fighting solo, better to run (at least untill some fixes hit powers) because you will run out of force before you even make a dent in the person.
Master Powers Template
Master Powers, 4140 Healer, 4004 Enhancer, 0040 Defender
Pros: Very good Group PvP template. You have the 1500 heal plus Improved Infusion and Wound Healing. Force Aura for defense which is enough for me to survive pretty good. You have the ability to escape well if in trouble via Force Run or Cloak. Force Sap which is very helpful when fighting those MLS or Riflemen (and will be even more needed once and if they add a mind cost to force healing). Force Shock, which doesn't play a big part now, but will once Stun is fixed as well as Force Throw and Mind Blast with there state effects. You have a root and a snare. Also the skills that should be a requirement for Master Powers templates Channel, Speed, and Meditate.
Cons: - Poor Solo survivability. This template is more a support template. Don't expect to be able to solo alot of things.
- No Lightsaber. The only downfall with this is no armor break imo. But as I stated before, this is a group intensive template and everybody and his brother has Armor Break already.
- Aura dependant. You have to keep a close eye in combat and make sure you keep aura up or you'll be dead in seconds.
I think this template will be alot better once some of the changes SonG posted are completed (mainly the 50% less force cost for Power skills, Mind Blast and Throw getting there state effects fixed,and Choke ignoring armor resists.) Unless the FRS has changed dramatically, this template would rule in the higher ranks because of the power bonuses you get.

This template sounds very playable if played correctly. It seems, like you said, it isbest done in a support role. But Im sure it can do failry well on its own as well (Against non Jedi especially). I believe once we see some changes to force power costs, templates like these can become even more playable.
Ill be adding this one to the list of "No Lightsaber" templates.

Ls 0400 Mpowers Enh 4004 heal 4000 Def 0040
Mpowers for main offence with decent lightsaber for backup, ability to run, recharge force, have some defences and heal. Weakness = lack of defences.
Ls 0400 Mdefender Enh 2004 Heal 4100 Powers 0400 (6100 force)
Very good PVE template, LS does good damage with armour break mdefender means you can easily soak up the extra damage from mobs, heal self and others wounds basic FR for travelling and PVP and cloak for getting past nasty mobs or escaping if you get in over your head or rooted. Weakness = lack of KD
Ls 0400 Mdefender Enh 4004 Heal 4000 Powers 0400 (6325 force)
As above but with FR2 instead of wound heal, with toggle for FR coming this might be more useful.
